Street Trees of Seattle Walking Tour

Seattle is home to one of the nation’s most diverse urban tree collections—double the East Coast’s average and triple the Midwest’s. Join me, a local data nerd, naturalist and bestselling author, for a stroll through Capitol Hill as we explore this charming neighborhood and its notable street trees. • We’ll begin our adventure at the locally beloved Macrina Bakery on 19th Avenue, where you’ll receive a map I’ve illustrated of the eight different trees we'll visit, along with a brief overview. • On our tree walk through the beautiful residential streets of Capitol Hill, we’ll stop at each tree to learn how to identify it and distinguish it from other species. • You’ll have a chance to see notable trees, including the city’s widest maple street tree (a native bigleaf maple), the widest sugar and silver maple street trees, and the widest giant sequoia street tree in Seattle. You’ll leave with a renewed sense of wonder, a mile of nature therapy, and a newfound appreciation for the more than 700 tree species that adorn the Emerald City. Please note: Our tour covers approximately one mile along sidewalks and lasts about 90 minutes. Be sure to bring a rain jacket, water, and wear comfortable walking shoes, rain or shine.

Discover the last Ancient Trees in Vancouver

Join me, a conservationist of ancient trees, for a big tree walking tour in Stanley Park, visiting the country’s biggest maple and some of Canada’s largest ancient cedars and Douglas firs. • Follow secret trails to visit trees that are nearly 1,000 years old. We will visit the park’s largest and oldest trees, many of them hidden to the average park visitor. • Using century-old postcards and historic maps, I’ll provide a unique perspective on the history of Vancouver and its ancient forests. • You’ll see historical evidence of how First Nations used the forests, and how settlers cut down trees during the era of industrial logging. • Pause and appreciate the significance of these remarkable giant trees. I’ll explain the future of these rare giants and their ecological importance. You'll leave my walk inspired by this secluded and peaceful area of Vancouver and the centuries-old giants that reside there, and you may even forget you’re right beside a major city during the tour.

Shopping tour of The Drive with queer icon Brandy Mars

Take a personalized tour of iconic LGBTQIA+ landmark businesses along Vancouver’s Commercial Drive with me, an artist and owner of the gayest lil’ gift shop in all the land. The Drive is a multicultural and bohemian street that hosts the annual Dyke March. • I’ll kick off by distributing the highly coveted and detailed Vancouver Gay Map before introducing you to the owners of Womyns’ Ware, a women-owned sex-positive shop. • Take a snack break at Elbo Jamaican Patties—which works with Black and queer communities in Vancouver—before migrating to the floral shop Studio Full Bloom. • Browse the deep selection at Mintage Commercial Drive, Vancouver’s largest vintage clothing store, and then JQ Clothing for fun gender-inclusive outfits. You’ll leave with insider tips on queer Vancouver’s hidden gems, and a secret map to guide your future adventures in the neighborhood.

Walk through the heart of Vancouver’s LGBTQ community

Davie Street has been the heart of Vancouver’s LGBTQ+ community for decades. Meet the designer of the LGBTQIA+ Map for a guided walk through the neighbourhood. • Start with a visit to Little Sisters Book and Art, which has survived legal challenges and bombings, and offers a great selection of reads for folks of all genders and ages. • Then we’ll meander down the street, stopping for coffee and popping into LGBTQ+-owned businesses. • Our walk will culminate with drinks at the Fountainhead Pub, one of the original gathering spots in Davie Village. You’ll receive a copy of my 2025 LGBTQIA+ Map of Vancouver, and I’ll be happy to share my recommendations for more places to shop, dine, and sightsee in town.

Dive into the artsy Kerns neighborhood with a journalist

Walk, shop, eat, and drink with me, a journalist and food writer, in the eclectic southeast Portland neighborhood of Kerns, one of the city’s liveliest areas. I’ll show you its history and highlights at my favorite coffee shops, art galleries, landmarks, and vintage shops. • Meet at Heart for introductions and the neighborhood’s best coffee and then stroll to Nationale, an art gallery and bookshop that showcases emerging artists. • I’ll share the stories behind Burnside Street’s landmarks, including the Art Deco Laurelhurst Theater, and answer any Portland-related questions you may have as we wander up 28th Avenue. • Pop into Olo to chat with the designers of locally made perfumes, browse the vintage collection at Goodbye Horses, and discuss what you’ve seen over margaritas and snacks at Güero. I’ll leave you with my personalized tips for dinner and further explorations in the neighborhood and beyond, as well as my handmade zine full of insider tips on Portland.

Explore the stunning bluffs of Cannon Beach with me, a marine biologist and sustainable seafood specialist, and discover what makes this environment distinct, from its old-growth forests to its tidal zones to it's kelp forests. • Walk to the monolithic landmark of Haystack Rock on the beach and hear about the diversity of the Oregon coast’s marine ecosystems. • We'll follow the high tide wrack line and see and identify what has washed up on the shoreline, along with discussing the kinds of shellfish and seaweed foraging available in various environments. • Learn about the sustainable practices of local fisheries and innovative aquaculture industries in the region. You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of coastal habitats, and the knowledge to help protect the ecosystems of our beaches.

Please book as far in advance as possible as I plan based on reservations! The boats all get enclosed to keep you dry and comfortable regardless of the weather! Your adventure begins as we embark from the North Side of Lake Union and enjoy a leisurely cruise around Lake Union and Lake Washington. Throughout this 1 Hour Cruise you'll have an opportunity to experience: Up close and personal views of sea plane take offs and landings. Sights such as the Space Needle, Gas Works Park, the Fremont Bridge, St. Marks Cathedral as well as dozens of floating homes including the Sleepless in Seattle floating home and the oldest floating home in Seattle. Hundreds of boats from classic cruisers to modern mega yachts from all around Lake Union Sit back, relax and enjoy soaking up all the amazing views of Seattle and discover what makes the Northwest so special. Other things to note You are welcome and encouraged to bring any food and soft drinks that you you like. Sunscreen and sunglasses are recommended.

Winter Bike Tours There are three important things we have learned from decades of bike commuting here in the “rainy” Northwest - 1. More often than not, it’s perfectly nice out there. Seattle likely gets less rain than wherever you might be travelling from and the rain we get is often more like a mist than actual rainfall. Winter temps are generally mild and snow is extremely rare. 2. As the Norwegians (who were the first immigrants to settle much of the area we ride through) say, “There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes.” 3. Some things are even better in the winter - mountains more spectacular with the snow, more sea lions in the sound, great blue herons nesting in big rookery, coffee tastes better in the cold, and there is always something interesting in bloom. So intrepid travellers and locals are invited to join us for a winter e-bike tour. We follow the same basic route as our summer tours with the possible addition of a stop for warm beverages. We can provide head to ankle rain gear ( jackets, pants and gloves but not shoes). Keep in mind that even when it is not raining the roads may be wet and biking on wet roads requires more experience. First stop is at the Olympic Mountains and Sound Viewpoint, here we give an overview of the waterway and the layout of Seattle. We travel through the Ballard Locks and Fishermen's Terminal and more.

**Please note that this is a 20 minute (approximate) experience** People love coming to Portland for the donuts, the food, and whatever else makes Portland, Portland. We get it...it can be a fun place. But what about an air tour? Well, you’re in luck, because that’s what we do! Once you arrive for your flight, you’ll be greeted by the pilot and discuss the safety of our experience, grab a free drink, and take a quick bathroom break for the first 15 minutes or so then load up the plane! Afterwards we will head out on a 20 minute flight tour (approximate) above Portland, Oregon! Throughout the flight, we'll do our part to make Portland one of your favorite cities– it's certainly one of ours, but then again, we're biased! On this tour you'll get awesome views of Mount Hood (in the distance to the east), the Willamette River, the city, and whatever else you can spot along the way. Enjoy a nice aerial stroll above the Willamette River, the urban landscape of Downtown, and more of the special landmarks that make Portland such a unique place. Other things to note: • We fly year-round, rain or shine (as long as it's safe), hot or cold, so please dress accordingly…and be sure to bring a camera :) • Group weight limit can not exceed 600 pounds for a group of 3 and 925 pounds for a group of 5 • Flight times are approximate and may vary based on different factors

Sunset Balloon Ride Next to A Volcano

You'll become part of our hot air balloon crew for the day! You'll park your car and jump in our chase vehicle with hot air balloon in tow. Once we reach our launch location, we'll inflate the 150,000 cubic foot hot air balloon with 2 gas powered fans. Once the balloon is upright you'll climb into the basket and we will climb to a max altitude of 4700ft. Most of our sunset balloon flights take a gorgeous path down the White River where eagles nest and deer frolic. You'll have epic views of Mt. Rainier, the Puget Sound, Olympic Mountains, and DownTown Seattle. After a beautiful 1 hour flight, we'll softly land the balloon and break out the champagne and celebrate becoming aeronauts! You'll drink aged champagne and nibble on delicious baked goods. Post-flight the crew will pack up the balloon and we will bring you back to our initial meeting location where you parked.
