The Salmon Creek House is a large lake-view (first-floor) studio loft right in the heart of the Historic Pultneyville Hamlet! Enjoy a beautiful view of the southern shore of Lake Ontario from the new deck overlooking the Pultneyville Harbor. Experience all that this area has to offer: The restaurants, fishing, snowmobiling, history, galleries, wineries, cideries, beaches, farms & markets.
Only 25 mins to Rochester and Sodus Point is only a quick 10-mile drive!
The Salmon Creek House (SCH) was built in 2008. This new building, situated along the Seaway Trail, now houses a luxury long-term rental apartment, two retail office spaces, and a vacation rental (new in 2017). This building replaced the original Salmon Creek House, once a gift and antique shop. In fact, the original sign now hangs in the vacation rental, reminding visitors of the past use of the property.
The SCH offers a fully ADA-compliant studio loft with two double beds and a queen pull-out couch (sleeping 6 total). It is fully equipped with a kitchen and one bathroom. We provide cable TV on a 48" smart-TV and unlimited Wi-Fi. The living room area has French doors that open to a small deck with great views of the boats in the harbor and Lake Ontario.
This building is surrounded by beautiful views of the historic hamlet and is within walking distance to restaurants, the beach, an art gallery, a pub, Gates Hall (the oldest, continuous community theater venue in America!), the Pultneyville Yacht Club, the Pultneyville Mariners Club, the Williamson-Pultneyville Historical Society and the Genesee Valley Land Trust public hiking trails. It is also within close proximity of the Pultneyville Bicenntennial Trail, the four-mile Williamson town loop trail, two parks, and a multitude of wineries, cideries, a distillery, fruit farms and farm markets.
Directly across the driveway is the infamous Salmon Creek (a tributary of Lake Ontario) which offers world class salmon and trout fishing. Here, there are also a number of boat docks, many of which are home to local fishing charters! The Salmon Creek House has access to one of the docks and boat launch. This dock is available for visitors to use for an additional cost. It would be great for small boats (under 30 ft) as well as kayaks and canoes, too! If you enjoy fishing, you will have a prime fishing spot on the dock with is typically posted! Please contact Jamie for more information. Also, all bookings will be provided with a map ensuring PRIVATE FISHING on almost a mile of the infamous Salmon Creek! (Jamie and Jason own hundreds of acres of land providing access to Salmon Creek).
Right next door to the SCH is The Landing at Pultneyville which now houses the Pultneyville Grille (serving excellent dinners) and the Grille, which is a seasonal walk-up window serving lobster rolls and typical summer fare. The Landing also houses one of Upstate NY's premier art galleries, Artisans' Loft. The main restaurant serves dinner Wednesday-Sunday with gorgeous views of Lake Ontario. In the summer months, The Landing has a beautiful patio (The Grille) open for food and drinks, from 11-3. This patio overlooks the Pultneyville Harbor and is another great place to watch the boats and fishing charters.
At the top of the driveway is the quaint Pultneyville post office offering a quick stop to mail your postcards!
Just past the post office is the Williamson-Pultneyville Historical Society. The W-PHS house has numerous historical artifacts and exhibits on display. Also found on the grounds (behind the house) is one stop on the War of 1812 Peace Garden Trail.
The next stop on the Pultneyville tour is the Pultneyville Deli Company. They are open seven days a week and offer a variety of baked goods, sandwiches, and pizzas. They also feature a nice selection of rotating craft beers on tap.
Continue past the Deli and turn right on Hamilton Street Extension for the Pultneyville Yacht Club. PYC offers guest docks and a club house.
Directly at the end of this street is a small area known as Rocky Beach which provides expansive lake views and TONS of rocks to collect and throw! This is a great walk for children!
If you continue down West Lake Road you'll find Gates Hall, a community Theater. Check their schedule to see if you'll be visiting while the GateSingers are performing!
The Pultneyville Mariners Club is in the opposite direction and is located just before the bend in Lake Road. This club is alive with sailboats, catamarans, and kayaks, situated on a private beach.
Just past the Mariners Club is the Pultneyville Captain's Monument. There are also cement steps here that lead directly down to Lake Ontario. This is the public access to the Lake. Please note that the beach is private and part of the Mariners Club.
A mile or so down the road on East Lake Road is a beautiful stop, B. Forman Park. This park is perfect for picnics and watching the sunset. You can rent pavilions via the Wayne County webpage.
If you keep heading east, you'll run into Sodus Point. This beach community has many restaurants, shops, boat rentals, fishing charters, world class golf, and a gorgeous public beach.
As you can see, the area has a ton to offer! Many people notice as they enter Pultneyville, that the streets are lined with apple orchards and other fruit trees. Wayne County, NY is one of the largest apple-producing regions in the country. During the month of May, the trees are in full bloom and are a sight to be seen! The air even has a sweet smell to it during this iconic time. The third weekend in May is home to the Williamson Apple Blossom Festival, honoring the long history with apple production in our community. Jamie and Jason currently operate a large Apple farm just outside of Pultneyville. It is possible to book a private tour (on a side-by-side!) of the farm during your stay at the SCH (for an additional fee). If you happen to visit during the months of September and October, plan on picking a few fresh apples to take back to the SCH! Strawberries are harvested in June, peaches in late-July/early-August, and pears in September. Please contact Jamie if you'd like more information on booking a tour and exploring the bounties of our farm.
Jamie and Jason both grew up in this area and LOVE IT. We are so excited to now offer the Salmon Creek House so we can share our favorite place with new friends. We both have family roots in Pultneyville, and are fourth-generation farmers in area. We know the area and the locals and feel that we can help to provide an awesome Pultneyville experience!
