My name is Sadie and I am the Education Liaisonfor the New York Marine Rescue Center (NYMRC)! I believe that we conserve what we care about and that we care about what we know. My mission is to connect people around the world to our natural environment while learning all of the ways we can protect it together.

I have worked in marine science and animal care with organizations like the Walt Disney World Company on the Animal's, Science, and Environment Team and Pacific Whale Foundation studying humpback whales on the Maui.

I now work remotely with NYMRC, but held a biologist position with the team since 2019. I look forward to providing an unforgettable, immersive experience for you through the world of marine animal rescue of seals, turtles, and dolphins!

What a wonderful and informative experience! My 10 year old and 7 year old learned so much. Elizabeth, our guide, was very knowledgeable and made it a great experience answering many questions my 7 year old had. I recommend you enjoy the aquarium first for the full experience. We spent about 2.5 hours in total and all very happy.

My family (husband and 8 year old daughter) were fortunate to come across the rescue center experience on Airbnb. We visited Riverhead Long Island in June 2021 and were looking for a unique experience. The Rescue Center is located inside the Long Island Aquarium ( shared facility) but the Rescue Center is a separate organization. The tour was arranged through Sadie. She was very responsive and helped us make a schedule change and was easy to reach via text. Our marine biologist guide, Christina, who works for the Rescue Center met us inside the Aquarium and took us to the Rescue Center facilities for the private tour. Christina was great! She was extremely knowledgeable and caring. She showed us all the rescued marine animals and went into great detail about their conditionsand rescue stories. in addition to working at the center full time, she volunteers to walk beaches to help rescue stranded turtles during her free time. It was great to see all the fantastic work that she and the rest of the dedicated Rescue Center staff do to care for the marine animals in New York. Definitely worth a visit and we learned so much. (the staff at the Rescue Center were great with following covid protocols - thank you).

A fun behind the scenes tour! There were only a couple of very cute sea turtles when I toured, but it was still really fun and interesting to learn more about the rescue and their facilities. It's also in the same location as the aquarium, so you can arrive an hour or so early to do that as well (warning: the aquarium was a steep $38 for adults).

Jill gave our tour and she was great—friendly and really knowledgeable. We learned it is the off-season for animals in need of rehabilitation, so we met one permanent resident of the rescue center and learned a great deal about the work done in the busy season. It was a great experience and so interesting to learn a bit more about wildlife rescue and marine biology. Thank you!
