I will meet with you at a designated trailhead in Boulder, Colorado and we will take a short walk to a place of natural beauty: into the trees, a lake, waterfall, mountaintop etc. Here, we'll stop and I'll set some context for the lesson: describing my experiences in nature, all the way from growing up in Africa through training in jungles and on beaches, to the wilderness excursions of the Southwest USA. We'll explore your experience, any requirements you might have and together we'll determine the most enjoyable lesson for you. We will then begin with a description/rehearsal of the meditation and connecting this to movement. Training is comprised of both stillness and gentle movement, we will even sit and lie down, teaching you the full range for meditation. Starting with physical posture, relaxed full breathing will be our entry into deeper meditation. The duration of meditation will be of 20 minutes minimum, and may extend to 45 minutes. Wether, you're a total beginner or an advanced practitioner we can design the lesson to satisfy. Having accomplished the meditation, a lesson review will be delivered. There will be the opportunity for you to ask questions, at any point in your lesson. Continued support of your experience is offered in the form of printed handouts and a series of books on the meditations. We will then return to the trailhead and part ways.
I've been teaching in Boulder, Colorado since 1997, I specialize in Qigong meditation and movement arts in the outdoors. Training is delivered in places of pristine beauty, teaching people to connect to and absorb the energy of nature. The style of Qigong taught, is based on visualizations of the energy system from the ancient Taoist tradition of "Immortality Training" which emphasizes establishment of maximum health. Meditations are simple and are described in easily understandable terms. Learning support is offered through a series of books on the meditations. Meditations are incorporated into walking movements from the art of Baguazhang (a more powerful version of Tai Chi, accentuating circularity and our relationships with Trees.) Master of a number of martial arts, chess and Tango, I enjoy sharing intelligent conversation and fun!
Boulder, Colorado has over 150 miles of trails accessing wilderness areas, I've been hiking here for 20+ years and will select the best training location based on the season and weather. The place we will train will offer good sanctuary—peace and quiet so as we can focus on our meditation. The locations offered provide big trees, lakes, mountains and great views. Photographic opportunity abounds, you can capture the experience for your future.
