Au programme

With over a 300 year history, from the Revolutionary War to its revitalization in the past 50 years, come experience Philadelphia with me. This is an historic events tour with an architectural twist.

Every building has a story to tell, from the materials, technology, and styles favored when it was constructed, to the people who designed, built, lived and worked there. Events of historic proportion take place in and around buildings as well. Come with me on this journey to discover all the secrets each building on our tour is waiting to tell us. This tour is also great for groups, teams and team building!

We will be walking through Old City and Society Hill, visiting the oldest continuously inhabited residential street in the United States, and seeing the same buildings the Founding Fathers worked and worshiped in. Whether your interest is architecture, American History, visiting the places where Ben Franklin and George Washington lived and worked, or humming a tune from the Hamilton play as we experience Philadelphia as the Capitol of the United States, this tour is for you!
Other things to note
Bring cameras as there is much to photograph. Snacks that you like are good to have, or there are plenty of stores along the way. A hat and comfortable shoes are also a good idea to wear.

I am a Registered Architect who has lived in the City of Philadelphia since 1978. After taking a walking tour with famed City Planner Ed Bacon, I was inspired to give similar experiences of the city.
Currently residing in the Old City area of Philadelphia, I would love to introduce you to the only World Heritage City in the U.S.

This was an amazing tour. Reid was so knowledgeable and sole very clearly and in detail about historical events and how they relate to architecture. I expected this tour to be dry but it was anything but dry. A 3 hour walking tour sounds like a lot but it was not bad at all. I would highly recommend this tour with Reid if you want to learn more about American history, Pennsylvania history, and how it ties in with architecture.

The architecture tour was fantastic! The buildings were beautiful and Reid knew all the history that went along with them. It was totally worth it!

I really enjoyed this tour. I learned a lot about the history of the city (and the US) and the different styles of architecture. Reid was engaging, friendly and very knowledgeable. I’d recommended it. Only thing to note to others would be to bring some water and comfortable shoes.

This tour was everything I expected and more! Reid’s architectural background and natural storytelling capabilities really made history come alive. From design, to location, to materials used, to dates of construction, I really walked away with a greater sense of appreciation for the structures we walked by and through. I was so excited to be in Philadelphia for the first time and am so grateful and beyond satisfied with this tour of this nation’s first big city.Extraordinary.

Reid’s Phillytecture tour was such a great experience for me. Reid was incredibly kind and patient with the group of guests, answering any question and waiting while we took photos. I took the tour because I was visiting Philly for the first time and was on my own. Being able to walk around this incredibly walkable city and have some company is so nice to a solo traveler. I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone visiting Philly! Wear good walking shoes and bring the right clothes for a long time outdoors!
