Come & Join as we explore an area known for its deep-rooted fabric sourcing for many local & international designers! Experiencing a fun guided walk in one of the most vibrant local markets in Kowloon via a street of shops selling fabric, beads, trims, buttons, leather, wool, pearls and tools – pretty much anything you need for making unique outfits and fashion accessories.

It is a heaven for fashion designers, craftspeople, DIY fanatics and fashionistas. It can feel slightly intimidating on the first arrival, but I would be delighted to show you how I turn these parts into a fashion item :)

Destinations

In the 1950s, The area of Sham Shui Po became known as the heart of HK's textiles manufacturing industry. Although the industry experienced a downturn in the 1980s, SSP has remained popular with designers & craftsmen, thanks to the sheer variety & affordability of material on offer. The best way to peruse these wares is by visiting the main shopping streets, where you'll find vendors specialising in different types of accessories or fabrics.

The curated experience with the vibrant and entrepreneurial @hayleylyla took me to a wonderland of fashion accessories that I would not have navigated solo. Choice purchases of materials for my projects which I cannot wait to start! TIP: Book this with the food tour and you'll have a high value insider's guide to HK but do purchase an Octopass to easily navigate the impressive HK public transit.

Hayley is one of the best hosts I have ever met. She is a fashion KOL and have more than 20k followers on Instagram. We explored Sham Shui Po, had a nice lunch, explored a local market street full of fabrics and cloth materials. It is very hard to find these authentic places in Hong Kong nowadays, as the city is expanding pretty fast, and many old neighborhood got torn apart for new skyscrapers. Come and take pictures in these communities before it is too late!
