Au programme

Are you ready to start pollen in love with the sensational world of honey bees? Well, hive been waiting for you! Join me for THE BEST experience in Atlanta as we take a bee-hind the scenes look at a thriving colony at Sneaky Bee Backyard Honey!

We’ll begin this edutaining, agritourism event inside the BUZZebo with a brief intro of everything we expect to see inside the hive (spoiler alert: lots of bees.) Although the honeys typically prefer to mind their own beeswax, we’ll suit up in an ultra figure-enhancing, protective bee suit and do a thorough gear & safety check. Next, we head to the apiary!

Together, we'll geek out as we get an up close and personal look at how honeybees team up to rear young, store pollen, turn nectar into honey, and tend to her majesty, The Queen! Your hands-on involvement is highly encouraged and I’ll pass off frames of bees to the participation-inclined among us, while teaching you to spot pollen, nectar, and developing bees, with plenty of time along the way for photo ops!

After desuiting, it's time to put your honey where your mouth is and transition to the ultimate sensory experience: the honey tasting flight! We'll talk through 9 different honeys, including our own wildflower honey harvested right here at Sneaky Bee!

Give me a buzz with any questions! I'll bee seein' ya soon!

*Kids are welcome, and I gear Sundays tours to accommodate them.

I’m a Certified Beekeeper who's been at this whole backyard beekeeping thing for five years, and I’m one half of the Sneaky Bee Backyard Honey team.
Through the years, we’ve expanded our backyard apiary through lots of elbow grease, some hard lessons learned, and a few timely “here goes nothing!” experiments.
Most of my time is spent as a homeschoolin’ mama to our three wild kiddos, and our family enjoys getting outside as often as possible. I’m looking forward to sharing my enthusiasm and passion for beekeeping with you!

Very informative and hands on. Learned a lot about not only bees and hives but honey as well. Don’t be afraid to go even if you have a fear of bees. You are well protected and they are not aggressive.

Don’t think about it, just sign up and do it!! Come alone or bring a friend, everyone was welcomed. It was fun, informative and not as scary as I personally envisioned lol. You will be in full protective gear while interacting with the bees and you will learn a lot! The honey tasting at the end is delicious too! Ellen is an amusing, light-hearted, knowledgeable host. Don’t forget to ‘shake your honeymaker’ at the end! I would do this adventure again.

Absolutely wonderful experience! Holding a bunch of bees in your (fully gloved) hand is more fun than you think! Also, Ellen is just the funniest. Think of this experience as beekeeping with stand up comedy on the side 😃

Such a wonderful experience! Not only did we get to get a close up look at the bees but, Ellen was very informative about the bees themselves! Ellen was keen to include everyone and was an overall pleasure to be around.
