The more you know about Sydney the more you would appreciate this beautiful city. When Joseph Conrad the famous writer visited Sydney in 1888 he described it as "Sydney Harbour ... one of the finest, most beautiful, vast, and safe bays the sun had ever shone upon." The Sydney History Tour is a half day walking tour that would ground you in the story of Sydney and how it was settled by Europeans. We begin the tour with the land and its native people, the Eora Nation, the Aboriginal clans who lived along the coastal areas in what is now Sydney basin. Sydney as a penal colony began only 200 years ago at a great cost to its indigenous inhabitants. The tour will cover the stories behind some of Sydney's most iconic buildings and landmarks, the Opera House, Circular Quay, Botanic Gardens and St Mary's Cathedral, etc... We'll have a break in the Botanic Gardens Cafe where people can interact and ask questions. By the end of the tour your basic knowledge of Sydney would be greater than the average Sydneysider and you will take that knowledge with you forever.

I love Sydney. Sydney is a moveable feast. I have been reading about Sydney and exploring it for a few decades now. I have worked as a tour guide in Spain and Greek islands. I have also taught courses in community college, government institution and environmental organisations. I have written articles as a freelancer for outdoor magazines. I find the history of Sydney fascinating, unique and exciting. I would like to share my knowledge with you so that you too can appreciated the story of Sydney. Whether you're a Sydneysider or come from somewhere else I am sure you'll learn something new about this great city.

Sydney became a great city that it is today in a relatively short span of time. Sydney is one of the great cosmopolitan cities in the world. Her unique flora and fauna, dazzling harbour and great climate make this city an outdoor feast. We look at Sydney before the European arrival, when it was managed and cared for by the Aboriginal people and after when it became a penal colony and gradually a metropolis.

We loved this Sydney history tour. Daniel is a wealth of knowledge on the topic and brings his enthusiasm and love for Sydney to deliver fascinating pieces of history in an engaging and entertaining way. Having grown up in Sydney and lived here all of my life, I still learnt a lot and really enjoyed all the interesting stories and anecdotes, most of which I didn't know about until now. Daniel is obviously very knowledgeable and passionate about Sydney's colourful past - the good, the bad, the ugly and the just plain weird. Even if you think you already know all there is to know you'll definitely learn something new. Plus it was a lovely relaxing way to spend a few hours wandering around this beautiful harbour and city. Highly recommend this experience. Thanks Daniel for a really enjoyable and informative afternoon.

It's clean that Daniel has a strong connection to Sydney & a deep passion for it's history, especially it's early white settlement. The Botanical Gardens was a prefect place to stop for a coffee. A great way to spent a few hours on the shore of one of the world's most beautiful harbors. As a born and bred Sydneysider, it was a treat to learn a few facts and reacquaint myself with the ones I had almost forgotten.
