We offer coastal kayak ecotours led by a Florida Master Naturalist certified by the university of Florida. We specialize in small intimate tours to lower our impact on the waters we tour and to ensure a personal experience with our guides and habitats.
Meet us at one of several launches we tour from for introductions and a safety / instructional demonstration (beginners welcome). From there we kayak for 2.5 hours hours through mangrove lined shorelines and islands searching for wildlife to observe and learn about first hand. We encounter hundreds of different species of wildlife on our tour. Sharing these adventures with a master naturalist will provide unique insight into the lives of these amazing animals and their habitats. When we get back to land we take care of all break down down and clean up. We invite guests to follow us on social media where we will post updates on our daily tours and any resident wildlife news that we discover. Comment on our Facebook posts and become a regular part of our community no matter where you live. Total tour time is 3 hours.
We have dedicated our time to share how truly special these coastal communities are, and why it is so important to protect them. Our mission is to Engage, Entertain, and Educate our guests while providing a coastal adventure to be remembered for years to come.

I grew up exploring the Shallow water flats and mangrove habitats of south Florida . I learned independence and became obsessed with coastal exploration. Now a few decades later I've converted that passion into a personal need to help others connect with nature. As a certified Florida Master Naturalist I've dedicated my professional life to helping to educate people on the importance of our natural spaces, how to protect them, and to guide people to their their own connection with nature. I bring over 30 years of experience, and love to share the knowledge I've collected throughout those years. I've worked in tourism based hospitality for many years and have a very high expectation of the guest experience. My goal is to provide a great day on the water, observing wildlife and hopefully my guests learn something new along the way!!

Destinations

Estero Bay Aquatic preserve is a magical place.
This estuary is home to hundreds of species of wildlife, many imperiled. The bay is protected by a chain of barrier islands to separate it from the gulf of Mexico on the west side. Rivers and freshwater creeks flow into the bay bringing the nutrients that are the building blocks of life to the bay. This creates the oceans nursery. This is an amazing place to observe wildlife in it's natural habitat

This was a wonderful way to spend the morning surrounded by water and nature. Shane was very friendly, knowledgeable and equally patient as my kids asked lots of different questions. He made us all feel very comfortable and let us know what to expect during the trip. Before the trip he took the time to find out how we wanted to seat our family and got our input, so the event felt very personalized. It was a great time and also special that he had his daughter on the trip with us, we all felt even more at home and confident as a result.

Loved this experience. Shane and his daughter Maddie were the *perfect* guides: a rare mix of calm competence and enthusiasm. My wife and 3 older kids loved Shane's flexible, easy-going approach to sharing the Estero. Shane's down-to-earth conservationist views are a natural mesh with his love of angling, and his deep knowledge of hidden mangrove passes, tricky tides and all the amazing flora and fauna was a real pleasure to hear. You can tell this guy is going to be out on the Estero, with our without guests...we were just happy to be along for the ride!

Shane is knowledgeable of history (geological, marine, and human) and the amazingly diverse trees, grasses, fish, and birds of this endangered ecosystem. Good story-teller (it helps to have had the courage to have had interesting life experience, as he has had) and very accommodating/adaptable in helping his guests have a great experience, and in providing tips for those who want to continue exploration on their own.

Shane was extremely knowledgeable about the estuary and guided us through expertly while narrating stories about early inhabitants and the ongoing health of the estuary. We spotted various egrets, herons, mullet jumping out the water and a number of dolphins swimming up and down the mangroves looking for fish. Shane shared his extensive knowledge of the mangroves, describing the hunting pattern of the dolphins and we were lucky enough to view a charge that a dolphin made on some fish from very close. We also viewed an osprey from about 10 feet away which was truly beautiful. I would highly recommend this tour with Shane for anyone who want to experience nature from up close. It is a great kayaking experience for both beginner and seasoned kayakers.

Our kayak tour with Shane and Maddie was terrific. It was personalized to match our mix of kids and adults, while still providing a sense of adventure for all. Shane provided a lot of interesting information about the nature and the history of the area, along with answering all of our questions - and Maddie was fun to have along to help keep us on track too. Definitely recommend, and we’ll be back for another adventure next time we’re in Fort Myers Beach! Thank you both again for a great morning on the water :-)
