This was one of the best Airbnb experiences I've ever been on. Having lived in Montpellier during my university years, I knew the city pretty well but I had no idea what wonderful countryside there is just outside Montpellier.
We started our tour in central Montpellier near the river, met the rest of the group and the host, who is a close relative of Carine's, and got onto a minibus/van and headed to our first destination which was a lovely olive farm. On the way there, we got to hear about how Montpellier is changing, what the program of the day would be and even about how climate change is affecting the vine production in southern France. It was drizzling lightly when we got to the farm where we first heard about general olive oil production but after a while the host decided to move us indoors to the bright olive store.
We got to sample different olive oil flavours and my favourites were their signature oil Farigoule and another basil-flavoured oil, both of which I bought and brought home with me.
It was then time to move onto our final destination, the vineyard where we also got to hear about wine production and of course, got to admire the farm, the rows of vine stalks and the range of wines. The vineyard has a particularly beautiful store as there's a large window at the back wall of the store which overlooks the rows of vine bushes and gentle hills.
It is a good idea to have a hearty breakfast before coming on the tour as there are hardly any wheat-based snacks available, only the lovely olive oil, olives and wine to sample but we were aware of this having read some earlier reviews so were happy to have lunch around 1.30 when the tour finished.
I would finally like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful host who kept us informed throughout the entire tour, told us wonderful anecdotes about the culture and about how his own vine making business is adapting the changes imposed by climate and who took all of our tour members into consideration when sharing his insights. Thank you again!

The tour was a wonderful experience. Really lovely to get to taste two different product that really represent the area and have it be presented by someone who was kind, chatty and had real knowledge of the products we were tasting. An excellent way to spend half a day in Montpellier! I would highly recommend.
