Au programme

Every building has a story to tell, from the materials, technology, and styles favored when it was constructed, to the people who designed, built, lived and worked there. Events of historic proportion take place in and around buildings as well. Come with me on this journey to discover all the secrets each building on our tour is waiting to tell us.

We will be walking through Old City, visiting the oldest continuously inhabited residential street in the United States, and seeing the same buildings the Founding Fathers worked and worshiped in. Whether your interest is architecture, American History, visiting the places where Ben Franklin and George Washington lived and worked, or humming a tune from the Hamilton play as we experience Philadelphia as the Capitol of the United States, this tour is for you! This tour is also great for groups, teams and team building!
Other things to note
Bring cameras as there is much to photograph. Snacks that you like are good to have, or there are plenty of stores along the way. A hat and comfortable shoes are also a good idea to wear.

I am a Registered Architect who has lived in the City of Philadelphia since 1978. After taking a walking tour with famed City Planner Ed Bacon, I was inspired to give similar experiences of the city.
Currently residing in the Old City area of Philadelphia, I would love to introduce you to the only World Heritage City in the U.S.

Reid’s focus on architecture was just right and his in-depth knowledge of Ben Franklin’s history was not only much appreciated, but very intriguing. His command of dates, places and people was awe- inspiring.

I would definitely recommend Reid's Colonial Philadelphia tour. Both my teen daughters enjoyed the experience, especially the "Hamilton" references for my one daughter who is smitten with the musical. Overall it was a nice blend of learning a little about Colonial architecture, Philadelphia history, and interesting anecdotes about prominent historical figures and buildings. One plus about Reid's tour that we really appreciated was the small group size (just us and one other family of 3) in our tour. We passed a couple other more "commercial" tours along the way with about 20 people each, so ours felt much more intimate and we had no difficulty in hearing or keeping up. Very happy we selected Reid's tour and if we ever make it back to Philly we would definitely try to do another one with him.

Reid’s tour is the full package for Philadelphia’s colonial/American Revolution history. It starts at the oldest continually inhabited residential street, Elfreths Alley and ends at Independence hall and the Liberty bell center so you can experience those (liberty bell is first come first serve, ranger 25-30 minute led tour for Independence hall) Reid has a great wit a lot him too. Overall a great experience!
