Au programme
We will meet at Chofu station. It takes only 20 minutes from Shinjuku. But as soon as you drop off the train, you can feel totally different air from central Tokyo. We walk through old path to a popular local shrine where you are welcomed popular cartoon characters. They are called Yokai animation. Yokai is very unique existence in Japan. I will talk about it. We will get to nice local shrine which is related to that Yokai animation. Then we will see the local market, and have a nice walk to the Jindaiji temple.
Jindaiji temple located in a lot of nature is second oldest temple in Tokyo. It has long history. Then, let's enter Yokai Gallery and see what the Yokai is like. There is a pottery shop, too. Just give it a try to make your own pottery by drawing your original pattern. You can choose from variety shapes. You can make the only one pottery in the world. That is a wonderful experience. Also, many Soba noodle shops are lined, they make soba with the blessing of the spring water, which means no doubt good Soba! You can try it, if you want. Then we come back to Chofu station by bus.

We will walk a lot. Please wear comfortable shoes. If you want, you can eat delicious Soba noodles. if you want to enjoy painting on pottery, you need enough time more than 3.5 hours total.

Destinations
We will be walking Chofu city, 17 minutes away from Shinjuku by Keio Line. Along the way, I will show you the most popular Anime “GeGeGe no Kitaro"chalactors, Thiat cartoonist is Shigeru Mizuki who lived in Chofu city. You can see it at Yokai Gallery. This area is real residential area and quiet and peaceful. Let's spend a fun and relax day together!

Hello Kumi, thanks for a wonderful day we had so much fun hanging out with you. We really enjoyed the soba noodles, thanks for finding us someone who could make these gluten free. The Yokai walk was intriguing, its great that this is an anime that has run since the 1968 wow! Kumi was very accommodating and personable. I love Kumi-san! We spent the morning in Chofu, walking through the old town which was filled with famous manga characters. Great fun learning about the artist and the history of the area. We visited a lovely shrine, temple and tree-lined streets filled with small shops and soba restaurants. It was a very nice change of pace from central Tokyo. Definitely worth a visit!
