Au programme

I meet guests at Milson's Point train station where we proceed to walk to Seidler's office complex. Here is where we get to see elements of his work that will echo throughout the walk. From this vantage point we will also view Sydney's first and most controversial tall apartment block. We then continue past Luna Park and Lavender Bay where we discuss Brett Whiteley and walk through Wendy Whiteley's garden. From here we walk the Bridge pausing at the Sirius Building. From here we make our way through The Rocks noting some significant street art. Our next stop is up George street where we enter two examples of Seidler's work as well as contrasting them to the new EY Building. From here we move to Australia Square. From here we enter the Angel Arcade and proceed to the Capita Building. Next and final stop is the MLC Tower. At all these destinations we engage with the architecture, art and history of the sites. At this point guests have easy access to public transport.
Other things to note
The walk is roughly 2-3 hours long. A reasonable level of fitness is required as we will be climbing some steps in places. Milson's Point station is not busy so we can meet easily. Meeting time: 10am

I began my first walking tour group in Bangkok while I was living there some years ago. My walks took in many different aspects of Bangkok but I became increasingly interested in Art and Architecture. Sydney is my home town and upon my most recent return I began developing small art and architecture walks. I am particularly interested in modernism and the work of Australia's greatest modernist architect, Harry Seidler. He was also passionate about modern art and many of his buildings contain sculptures, murals, paintings and tapestries.

The sites we visit are: Seidler's Office/apartment; Grosvenor Square; Cove Apartments; Australia Square; Capita Building and the MLC Tower. In between times we will visit North Sydney Pool; Luna Park; Wendy's garden + house; The Bridge; Angel Arcade and some other tucked away laneways.

Paul ran an informative and engaging tour mixed with humour. Even though we visit Sydney often, we still discovered new vistas and perspectives.

This is a great experience that shows you some real hidden gems on both sides of the harbour. Get lucky with the weather (we did!) and you’ll have a wonderful time. We learnt lots, loved it all. Paul is a great easy going guide/host We came to this tour from a recommendation and would thoroughly recommend to others. I reckon even lifelong Sydneysiders would see and learn something new

This tour provided insight to some of Sydney’s iconic buildings. Paul’s colourful story telling, through the lens of Australia’s well renown architect - Seidler and selective artists - made the walk fun and informative! I saw and learnt new things about Sydney...and some of its history. Thanks Paul!
