Then you will put on a full protective bee suit and we will tour our apiary located here at the Honey Depot - YES, we will inspect hives together to search for the Queen!! Afterwards, you can taste different types of honey from around Kentucky and other parts of the country. Each participant will receive a 1-lb. jar of our wildflower honey.

Saving bees and teaching others about these amazing creatures is our passion! As the owner of HoneyBear Farms KY, I conduct beekeeping seminars, teach classes and host mentoring sessions regularly. I am also an officer with the KY State Beekeeping Association and an instructor for the Midwest Master Beekeeping Program.
Additionally, I am working towards obtaining my Master Beekeeping Certification from the Eastern Apicultural Society.

I compare our guide Whitney to Bill Nye. The tour was all about the science and the current process of bee keeping. This tour is the ULTIMATE experience. Met at the shop, tasted numerous honeys, given a bottle of honey, given handouts on upcoming events at the shop and bee school, education on Bees and Bee products, put on bee suits and spent plenty of time spying on several bee colonies, got some pictures in our suits, talked to a donkey, and came back to the shop to of course shop. The bee suites were actually very comfortable. It’s hard not to have a love and appreciation for our pollinators after this tour. I highly recommend this experience to locals and tourist.

What a great experience! It was so fun doing something that I would never otherwise have a chance to do, and also a nice break from distillery tours! The staff was very knowledgeable and took pride in what they do.

Our host was wonderful. Knowledgeable about the bees and very careful and considerate. I figured we would gear up and get to see some hives up close, I had no idea we'd get to hold honeycombs. I learned so much about bees and am no considering starting my own urban beehive. Wish I lived in the area to take their beekeeping classes. Also the honey is delicious!

Our guide Whitney was super awesome and so kind. She took us straight to the hives so we could take advantage of the cooler morning weather. She was so excited to take our photos and answer all our questions. I highly recommend this activity to anyone in the area!
