Au programme

With small group sizes, back streets and plenty of hand sanitiser, we're Covid Safe.

Explore the quirky and unusual Marrickville with Caite and her doggie co-host Gea. You'll learn about its history, see the Vietnamese and Greek influences, see prize winning architecture, shop at a local art hub, try some Craft Beer at a local brewery and enjoy art in the streets. I can give you inside information about the Live Music playing that night if you want to explore further after the tour. Cool, eclectic and entertaining, this is a great thing to do in Sydney.

Special "add-on" for the Wednesday Tour: we’ll visit a Coffee Curator where we’ll learn about making great coffee and taste their brew.

Special "add-on" for the Friday and Sunday Tours: we’ll visit a small Gin distillery to admire their gleaming copper still and perhaps have a Gin & Tonic.

I recommend allowing time after the tour to experience the amazing live music scene in Marrickville.

Please Contact Me if you have any questions, would like to do the tour on a day that's not scheduled or you're interested in a custom tour for yourself and/or a group up to 10.
Other things to note
We will be walking approx 3.5 kms/2 miles on level, paved footpaths. There are lots of stops and the pace is an enjoyable stroll. Bring a bag if you want to buy things from the places we visit.

I'm a passionate traveler, foodie, cook, filmmaker and storyteller. I love exploring and finding new places. Whether overseas or in my own backyard, I look for places that are quirky and interesting.

I've been everywhere in Sydney, my birth city. Marrickville is a gem because of its rich culture, music scene, restaurants, breweries, street art... I even found my doggie Gea here... she comes too!

I've curated a "mixed bag" tour that let's you have a taste of the best. I would love to share it with you... just 16 minutes by train from Central station. See more on Insta: @walkthiswaytours

Destinations

Part of Sydney's "Inner West", people have lived in Marrickville since the early years of Sydney. You will see older houses and industrial areas from the time when people lived close to the factories they worked in. This history has led to a vibrant contemporary space, where creatives and artisans have carved out new directions for work and play. The lively food scene, the street art and intimate music places create a great area to explore.

Caite was ready and alert to greet her guests. A friendly chat at the beginning where she introduced us to Marrickville the suburb: the geography, the history, the people. The meeting place was a great location to start the tour. It was lovely seeing how the old and new architecture are moulded together to produce such a great public space. The tour was full of information throughout on the different food industries: food, cafes, breweries in the area. It was great hearing the different insights of the area. The tour ended at a gin distillery where we were served a delicious cocktail. Ending the tour by having a drink enabled us all to sit back, chat and enjoy a lazy Sunday afternoon.

The tour had a really good mix of discovering new places, learning more about the history of the area and having a drink in a cool brewery. Catie was very approachable and personable. The tour was well paced, interesting and most importantly - we found out about all these hidden little gems we wouldn't have found on our own. We really enjoyed this tour - highly recommended!

It was a big pleasure to met Caite. She is a great guide for Marrickville. I never would have this experience without Caite. I enjoy every minute of this tour. I highly recommend this tour if you want to see a bit more than the Harbour bridge and Opera house of Sydney.

Enjoyed a lovely Friday afternoon walk with Caite around her favourite part of Sydney, Marrickville. As a Sydney local, this neighbourhood is not one that I would normally explore, but there is a lot to see, and Caite has put together a great route to show it all off. Would recommend to anyone who has seen the main sights of Sydney and wants to go a little deeper in discovering Sydney's many diverse areas.

Walking down the streets of Marrickville was different and special as it didn't feel like any other area of Sydney that I had previously been to. Caite had a great understanding of the area and there was never a boring moment while taking the tour with her and gea. We visited some hidden gems that I wouldn't have been able to find myself. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is looking for a more intimate experience with a local guide.

Wow! This was so wonderful! First of all, Caite is such a caring and fun host. She made sure we have what we need for the tour, and was such a joy to hang out with. She made a lovely cohesive group with her approach. Secondly, the tour she devised is a great variety of art/culture/history and food/drinks/music/fun. And you never feel pressured to do all of it but are left with freedom to do it your way; and I really love that. Thirdly, there is Gea! It’s a perfect tour and an awesome way to discover the most interesting part of Sydney; see how the locals live. Marrickville is for Sydney what Brooklyn is for New York. Do it!
