Au programme
Old Town is San Diego's oldest, most historic neighborhood, and is the birthplace of California. We’ll look beyond the tourist traps and find the harder to see “real” treasures and history of the 'hood. Plus we'll talk about food and sample some along the way, ending at a restaurant with mouthwatering tacos and a selection of tequila you won't find anywhere else (and likely won’t find on your own!)
Our experience starts at the Adobe Chapel, used as both a house and place of worship in the 19th century. We'll then try some freshly made tortillas from a local vendor who makes thousands of them a day.
Afterwards we'll view the Whaley House, where ghosts famously haunt this unique, brick building. Then we'll proceed up the hill to view Heritage Park with its lovely Victorian homes, and take a brief hike up Presidio Hill to see the first place settled by Europeans in 1769. We'll also talk about the Kumeyaay who were here 10,000 years before that.
Once down the hill we will pay our respects at a historic cemetery, the final resting place of many including the infamous Yankee Jim. Last, but in no way least, we'll sit down for some chips and salsa, delicious tacos and then toast our experience with a tequila drink.
Other things to note
This is a walking tour - we'll cover less than 2 miles but will be on our feet most of the time. Tour ends 5-10 minutes away from where it begins.

I’m a native to San Diego and a professional tour guide here since 2002. I've led different types of tours but my favorite - walking tours - led me to own & operate San Diego Urban Adventures from 2017 - 2021 and launch San Diego Walks in March 2021. I'm especially interested in the food of Mexico and have been leading tours talking about all things tortillas and tacos for the last four years. We'll hit up the best spots to find both of those and more on this experience.
As a passionate local I love to show off our beautiful city while meeting people from all over the world – that’s you! So much of the city comes from what happened in Old Town that to understand the city is to understand this spot. Plus the food and atmosphere is colorful, unique and fun to experience. Join me!

This was a delightful tour! We learned about Old Town's history and the characters that made it notorious. Jenn was very professional in making sure we observed all safety rules while walking and hiking. It was a delightful group and the finishing touch was our tequila drinks and tacos! Couldn't have been better!
