Au programme

I love hiking! I solo hiked in Mt.Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Himalayas in Nepal twice, Fuji in Japan and Alps in Europe several times. I've been leading a hiking club for over 1 year.

I was born and raised in Seoul, and I've lived in 5 different countries. After I'd moved back years ago I realized there are so many beautiful mountains in Korea! Why don't you enjoy this lovely nature while you travel in this huge city? It will give you a full different view of Seoul.

We will hike in Gwanak-san and Samsung-san where you can have an amazing view of cities. We will also visit an old temple, one of the 4 major temples in the Joseon dynasty. You could enjoy Korean traditional architecture and peaceful atmosphere.

Bring some food and wear comfortable shoes for the hike. Then you're ready to have a fun hike with other nature lovers!

We will take a bus to Seoul National Univ. and start the hike-Sammaksa - Samsungsan summit.

[History]
.Sammaksa temple : Founded in 667 by three monks in Silla period. 'Sam' of Sammaksa and Samsungsan means 'Three'. In Joseon dynasty, it was considered one of the major 4 temples near Seoul. You may see cultural heritage including 3-story stone pagoda and traditional Korean architecture
.Seoul Nat'l Uni : Founded in 1946. It is considered to be the best one in Korea.

I was born and raised in Seoul, and I've lived in 5 different countries, USA, Canada, Australia, Russia and Germany. I've also traveled more than 40 counties, mostly alone. I'm happy to talk about Korean and any other culture.

I love hiking. I solo hiked in Mt.Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Himalayas in Nepal twice, Alps in Europe and Fuji in Japan. I hike every week and led a hiking club in Korea for over a year. As I really want others to enjoy Korean nature, I got a license of a tour guide for foriegn guests in Korea. So now I can show you mountains and beautiful temples in my home country!

I don't hike too fast in mountains as I love to feel trees and mountains as much as possible. I like to hike with people so that more people can enjoy it. I'm sure once you hike with me, you'll like hiking in Korea so much just like me!

Gwanaksan is 4th highst mountain in Seoul, and Samsungsan is right next to it Gwanaksan. We will hike in both mountains.
Sammaksa temple was first founded in 667 by Three monks, Wonhyo, Euisang and Unpil daesa in Silla period. 'Sam' in Sam-mak-sa and Sam-sung-san means 'Three'. In Joseon dynasty, it was considered one of the best 4 temples near Seoul (It is technically in Anyang city, Gyeonggi province). You may see cultural heritage inc

Having had a very good experience on a hike with Lee last week, I decided to go on this Gwanaksan hike and temple visit as well. I can really recommend it to someone wanting to experience the Korean outdoors, nature and cultural life. This was a larger mountain, and a little more strenuous than my last week's hike to Ansan. On the winter's day that I went to Gwanaksan, there was snow in the afternoon which was quite magical, but I am sure that all seasons have their own unique attraction. Lee is a confident guide who knows the trails well, and her knowledge of Buddhism provided great context when we visited the Sammaksa Temple. I have been quite struck by the beauty of the mountains around Seoul, no visit to Seoul should be considered complete without a hike like this.

It was a really good experience. The hike was very fun and Lee was very kind and well prepared. She speaks fluent English which was a plus since as an expat it can get pretty hard to get guidance in Korea. The temples we visited were really beautiful and relaxing too. The hike is a good one and I really recommend anyone thinking about it to just go for it.
