Mahjong lesson and tea tasting in an NYC photo studio

New York City's mahjong scene has been blowing up recently, but you have to know where to look to find yourself at a table. Join me in my Brooklyn photo studio, where I’ve gathered many friends to learn and play mahjong, and I’ll teach you the ins and outs of this ancient game. • Once you settle in, I’ll pour tea for everyone and tell you a little bit about the game's history. Then I’ll walk you through the basic game—aka chicken hand—rules. • Next, start up a game! I’m prepared to teach total beginners, answering questions and offering guidance throughout. If folks catch on quick or already have some familiarity, I can teach / play the more advanced Hong Kong points-style game. • As you play, I’ll document our gathering with a 3D film camera that creates unique, holographic GIFs. You’ll leave with the mahjong basics, a holographic portrait, and recommendations on where to find some great Asian eats in this part of Brooklyn, if competition has whetted your appetite. ***Please note: the experience requires at least three booked guests, as mahjong requires 4 players!

The Lower East Side has a rich music history and heavy concentration of record shops with hard-to-find records. Join me in visting some of my favorites. • We’ll meet in the East Village, at a former landmark record destination. Where I’ll share some music history on the neighborhood, nightlife and vinyl community. • Then head to Ergot Records, where I’ll share a little about my work as a DJ and record shop owner, and then we’ll start digging! • As we explore the neighborhood, I’ll recommend other great shops and music destinations (based on your taste), and talk about how the landscape of record stores (& neighborhoods) in this city have evolved. • We’ll end up at Duty Free Records, where I’ll walk you through my curated collection. Then we’ll have a private listening session—diving into to the albums you’ve just picked up, some of my favorites, or just vibe to whatever you’d like (vinyl preferred). You’ll leave knowing where to pick up new treasures from the shops we visit, plus my tried & true recommendations of where to have the best digs, drinks, bites, and musical experiences.

Join a bartender who knows both sides of this world well for a drinks tour of three West Village bars. • We’ll meet up under the giant margarita sign at Caliente Cab, where I’ll share our itinerary for the evening. • Over the next few hours, I’ll take you to three spots that exemplify some of the best New York hospitality has to offer. I’ve secured us spots at Sip & Guzzle, Angel’s Share, and Katana Kitten. • At each stop we’ll enjoy drinks and conversation, and I’ll share insights into the history of these bars and the industry at large. You’ll get to know three great bars in the West Village, and I hope you’ll leave feeling like going out in NYC is approachable, interesting, and fun!

We'll get comfortable in our studio barn/workshop area, where you'll grab a glass of homemade wine from our organic orchard, wildcrafted herbal tea, and/or fruit-infused spring water from our bar before we get started. Once everyone is settled with a beverage, I'll do a quick demonstration to show you the techniques and procedures for making several different styles of rings. Then you'll get busy working hands-on with different tools and materials to create your own custom, unique ring exactly to your liking. I can provide as much support as necessary to help you to feel comfortable with the process and to create your desired outcome. We'll seal/finish your ring if necessary and you'll take it home with you at the end of the session. For those who are interested, you will also have an opportunity to tour our urban homestead and be immersed in the many endeavors we have going. Other things to note: -We have free-range chickens and 2 outdoor farm cats. All are friendly. :) -If you aren't seeing the date or time you'd like available on the calendar, feel free to send me a message and we'll try to work something out if possible! -In order to maintain the very intimate nature of this experience and the value for all guests, we typically do not allow non-participating onlookers. Hug A Highland

Hug A Highland allows guests to visit our family owned and operated farm to brush, love, and take nonprofessional pictures with our Scottish Highlands and miniature donkeys! Guests will be on a real working farm which makes it an educational experience about where and how their food is grown. We will go into the pasture or barn, brushes in hand, to get up close and personal with the animals. During the experience, guests will learn about each individual animal and the history of the farm. After the hour, there is a hand washing station and small gift shop to look around in! MUST BE 10 YEARS OR OLDER TO PARTICIPATE

Make and Take Glass Fused Coral Bowl in Eureka Springs

Emerse yourslef in the artistic side of Eureka Spring in an upbeat, modern environment. Start your creative journey exploring Visionary Art Studio with Gallery shows that rotate quarterly for a unique experience each season. After a quick tour of the gallery we will make our way into the glass studio. Here we will go over some basics of glass fusing like how to stay safe and how to use the glass tools. Now its time to start creating! Let your creative juices flow as you pick from all the colors of the rainbow to start creating your own coral glass bowl. After you lay out all the glass pieces and glue them together your piece will then be fired in the kiln 2 times, once to fully fuse it, then a second time to slump it into a bowl. This process can take up to 1 month so we can easily ship your bowl to you if needed for an additional fee.

Depending on the time of year, we will take a walk in nature, (on our 15 acre property), identify and harvest one or two varieties of herbal's to bring back into the Apothecary kitchen, where we will begin to process the material for creating a salve or lotion or tincture. During the processing phase we will have time to go in depth on the constituents of each plant we will be using, their benefits and application or doseage. This class is designed to get you started on your herbal self-care journey, covering some of the basics. You will go home with at least 2oz of either a salve, lotion or tincture, that you can add to your home medicine cabinet, or take with you on your travels. Great for Team building and groups. Other things to note The walk on the property is not strenuous but does require you to wear appropriate outdoor shoes. This class is appropriate for young adults to adults. (ages 12 and up)

Make your own jewelry from locally-sourced materials while drinking local wine! Guests will arrive to the Madison Stitch fashion studio in downtown Kansas City and learn about the city's history in the fashion industry, meet the people who are reviving the city's place in the industry, and review many of the products we sell while learning how they're made. Guests will then choose whether to make a set of earrings or a bracelet. Local wine will be served from one of our nearby wineries. The activity will last about an hour; afterwards you can walk 1-2 blocks to your choice of artisan brewers, distillers, or restaurants in the arts district of Kansas City. A perfectly unique way to experience the city's history and taste what it has to offer!
