Reading, Vermont, États-Unis

The cottage faces the fields, mountains and woods, and gives you that feeling of being tucked away in the countryside. It is within easy walking distance of a small grocery store, a local greenhouse selling Vermont farm-raised meats, vegetables and fruit, wine and craft beer. Check out their website for the latest information.

A network of trails for walking, hiking, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing (we have a couple of pairs that you can borrow) begins in the meadow right behind the cottage.

A short walk will take you to the town library, Watroba's general store, the post office, and the Reading Greenhouse, where you can buy fresh produce, flowers, local meats and cheeses, wine and treats. They have a website where you can order curbside or go inside, masked. Five miles down Route 44 is the Brownsville Butcher and Pantry selling fresh seafood, meats, wines and groceries. Check out their website.

Within a short drive there is skiing, hiking, swimming, and pick-your-own apples, pumpkins, and berries, depending on the time of year. Nearby ski areas include Okemo, Killington, Pico and Suicide Six.

GMHA (Green Mountain Horse Association) is a 10 minute drive, and 10 minutes in another direction will take you to Ascutney Mountain and the small community owned ski hill.

For restaurants, shops and other entertainment check out the surrounding towns of Woodstock, Quechee, Springfield, Ludlow, Windsor, Weathersfield and other nearby towns. We're about 45 minutes from the Upper Valley.

I was born and raised in Bangkok, and have now put roots down in this small, quiet village in the countryside of Vermont. My heart is in both places. I have been an educator all my life, and now care for children after school. My own three grown children are my pride and joy. Being community oriented, I enjoy being a part of Reading through involvement with the school, library and other organizations. Free time is spent quilting and doing other handiwork. I have loved being a part of the Airbnb community, and take pleasure in meeting new people who visit here.
