We are French. Unfortunately, our family ( 2 adults and 3 kids) did not like very much our stay at Michael's house. It is not very much about the price (even if we have to admit that it is high for no apparent reason) but for everything else. The house is dark -you cannot blame only Derry's rain for this-, the location is not green at all (more a set of bricks house despite what one of the picture can lead to think), the street is dirty and smelly and the house view is frightening for kids (abandonned creepy opposite house with broken windows). The quarter seems to be very poor and we were afraid to walk at nite to the city. Michael's house is renovated but this is for investment purpose. There was no warmness in Michael's welcome: long waiting for him to go down from his car (since he had more important calls to give and would not necessarily pause them for us). Despite Michael's wife trying to make up for the wait time, we really felt alone over that period. Michael's left quickly and we never received indications about the surroundings that Michael said he had sent to us via email. We had to request them again to get them the day after. I am sorry about the negative comment but by comparison to 9 other stays (and locations) within our tour of Ireland, the entire family is unfortunately rating this one as poor despite the renovation. By visiting Derry, we found much better surroundings for same price if not less. We often say we come to Ireland for the people. There is obviously room for improvement in this area if Michael wants to maximise his investment (business) properly. PS: no washing machine nor dish washer contrarily to other places.
