I have enjoyed hosting on AirBnB so much over the last three years that I am now hosting my second bedroom on AirBnB. You can find my original post entitled "Warmly furnished private room".
Stay in one of the fastest growing neighborhoods in DC! Experience the city as a local in a diverse and friendly neighborhood. Hang out on the porch on a warm summer evening or explore DC at night. Close to a vibrant nightlife on H Street, shopping, Union Station, and public transportation.
It is a brick rowhouse, with a deep backyard, large deck, front yard and porch. It has hardwoods throughout and original wood moldings as well as ceiling fans in each of the rooms. The house is equipped with a whole house water filtration system. The first floor of the house is shared living space with a living room, kitchen and dining area. The second floor has two bedrooms - both of which are hosted separately on AirBnB (See Warmly Furnished Private Bedroom) - a bathroom for guests, and my private office. My private living quarters are in the basement. The bedroom is comfortably furnished with a queen size bed, a full size futon, a large dressers, a desk, and two ceiling fans. I supply linens and towels.
CHECK IN is after 6:30 PM. However, if you arrive early, you are welcome to drop your bags off in the living room and go out to enjoy the city. If I have a guest departing that day, your room will not be ready until I get home around 6:00 pm when I will change the sheets on the bed and prepare the room. If I do not have a guest the night before your arrival, your room may be ready for you upon your arrival.
CHECK OUT is at 11:00 am. If you have a late departure and want to leave your bags in the living room, that is fine. You just have to let me know in advance.
Accès des voyageurs
Guests have access to everything on the main floor. You can read a book on the front porch, watch TV in the living room, or make a home cooked meal in the kitchen. Make yourself at home.

I will spend time with my guests as much as they want and time permitting. On the weekend, I am happy to enjoy a glass of wine, watch a movie in the living room, or head over to H Street with my guests. However, I understand that guests are not here to see me :-), so if you want to do your own thing, I am ok with that too!
I have a full time job Monday - Friday, so my time during the week is limited. That said, I am always here to answer your questions on what to do, where to go, and how to get there.
If you plan to use a car while you are in town and will stay at my home for three or more days, please let me know in advance so that I can secure a guest parking permit. This permit is to be placed on the dashboard of your car so that you will not get a ticket for having out of state plates in a residential neighborhood.
Smoking is not allowed in the house. The backyard and basement are private and off limits.
You are very welcome to make full use of the kitchen to prepare meals. Food is not permitted upstairs in the bedrooms. It can attract bugs. Meals can be eaten in the kitchen/dining room or in the living room. Guests are expected to clean up after themselves when they use the kitchen and keep the common area free of their personal belongings.
This is an environmentally friendly household. DC law requires that trash be separated from items that can be recycled - plastic, glass, paper. Recyclables should be placed in the brown paper bags. Items with food should be rinsed before being placed in the paper bag. All food and trash can be placed in the plastic trash bag.
If you have booked for 5 nights or longer, I will gladly wash and dry a load of laundry for you with 24 hours notice. If you are staying less than 5 nights, I am still happy to wash and dry a load of laundry for you with 24 hours notice, but it will cost $10. I won't fold laundry.

I have been working in international development for 10 years, but it is time for a change. Life is not a dress rehearsal. So, I just started a nonprofit organization - Community Action for a Sustainable Environment. I like to live life to the fullest and do things that make me happy. I love to garden and am passionate about environmental sustainability.
In my free time, I enjoy cooking, drinking wine and hanging out with my friends - usually all at the same time :-)!
