Cozy, warm, spacious studio apartment in a 200-year-old farmhouse. Gorgeous wood floors, lots of afternoon light, and beautiful views.

Le logement
This beautiful, bright and sunny studio apartment is the perfect place for a quiet vacation or a romantic weekend get-away. It is part of a 200 year old farmhouse, but is a separate and private space. It is bright and spacious in summer, cozy and warm in winter, and glorious in the fall. You will find everything you need to leave behind the hustle and bustle of your busy life, and spend some quiet time in beautiful rural Vermont. The afternoon sun pours in the large old windows, and the wide pine floors glow honey gold. You can relax with a good book, nap in the comfy bed, cook a meal in the fully but simply appointed kitchen, or soak in the tub. If you need to work, you will have all the quiet you need, plus good cell coverage and high-speed internet. You can come and go as you please, and have as much contact with homeowner as you want. There is a shared main entrance, but the studio is a separate space.

The studio consists of a good sized living/bedroom with a comfy queen size bed, plus a brand new fold out full-size sleeper for extra guests or your little one. The kitchen is equipped for cooking simple meals, with service for 4. The full bath is roomy and the bathtub is great for soaking. Two thick robes are on the door for your comfort.

The flower-covered front porch is the perfect place to dream away a summer afternoon. Lie in the hammock with a book, or have your morning coffee at the outdoor table while listening to the birdsong and the neighborhood roosters. Venture out through the meandering pathways into secret gardens, ponds, and fruit trees. It's been a glorious (if early) fall so far, but there is beauty to be had in each season.

Situated in a quiet and friendly rural neighborhood, you are but minutes from I-91, and 20 minutes from the Upper Valley. Hartland is a quaint Vermont town, with a diner, yoga studio, general store, library, gas station (with a surprisingly good wine selection), a Unitarian Universalist and a Congregational church, and a fantastic farmer's market on Fridays. There are miles of dirt roads right outside the door, to wander and get lost, or hop on your mountain bike and be gone for an afternoon. Hartland has an amazing network of miles and miles of public access cross-country ski trails, so if you come in the winter do bring your skis or snow-shoes. I can also tell you where to rent some.

Studio is walking distance to town, and is a ten minute walk to the Skunk Hollow Tavern, where they are practicing safe dining options including take-out and outdoor seating. The Hartland Diner, right in town is also doing some in house dining (with reservations) and also take out - try them for a fabulous breakfast!

Historic Windsor, with its shops, restaurants, museums, river adventure company, bike shop, the Harpoon Brewery, a brand new craft vodka distillery, and one of the longest and most photographed covered bridges in the world, is minutes away. In the other direction you'll find Woodstock, just 20 minutes away. Woodstock has been voted one of the most beautiful towns in the US and is full of lovely shops and restaurants, covered bridges, the Billings Farm and Museum, galleries, and antique shops - it is quintessential Vermont.

The Upper Valley, also 20 minutes away, consists of towns on both sides of the Connecticut River, in Vermont and New Hampshire. You will find restaurants to suit all tastes, wonderful shops and many tourist attractions. Hanover, New Hampshire and Dartmouth College are here, and so is the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, a premier hospital and health care center. The King Arthur Baking Store and School is just up the road and offers a beautiful new shop that is a baker's dream, and also offers baking classes throughout the year. Vermont Law School is a 25 minute drive.

VINS (Vermont Institute of Natural Science) is a 15 minute drive, and you can visit the bird rehabilitation center, watch the breathtaking sport of falconry, or climb to the top of the forest in their new canopy skywalk adventure.
While there, take an hour or so to hike to the bottom of the spectacular Quechee Gorge, or visit their large antique mall.

There are numerous smaller ski areas within a half an hour, and Killington, the "beast of the east" is just a 40 minute drive, through picturesque hills and forest. Rivers, lakes, hiking trails, miles of mountain biking roads and trails, and several premier distance running and biking races and events make this the perfect destination for any outdoor enthusiast.

Play hard, see the sights, go to meetings or medical appointments, put in a day on the slopes, or just meander the back roads and rivers of this beautiful part of Vermont, and then return home for a peaceful and quiet rest in your own comfortable little space.

Children are more than welcome in this space - with advance notice toys, games and snacks will be provided.

This home is a welcoming and safe space and is lgbtq+ and BIPOC friendly.

Sorry, but no pets are allowed. I know your dog is absolutely the best one in the entire world, but I have committed to keeping the space animal free for those who may have allergies.

There is nothing fancy here, but there is all that you need - that's why it feels like home.

Note: While the description is still mainly accurate, some of the places I mention may have restrictions or less access due to Covid. I try to keep up-to-date with what is open nearby, and I’m happy to discuss dining options, recreational activities, etc.

In addition, I will be considering requests from guests who are looking to self-isolate (symptom free), or to quarantine before staying in Vermont, or are just looking for a quiet, safe, clean and peaceful place to get away from lockdown at home. I have high speed internet, and most cell phones get good service here. It's a great work space, and all Covid protocols around cleaning and sanitizing are strictly followed. It's easy to social distance here, and you can walk for miles without seeing another person. You will have your own space, and a separate entrance, but I'm here on site in case you need anything. Winters are cozy, the studio is warm, there's plenty of hot water, and I won't even make you shovel snow. Bring some x-country skis, borrow some snow-shoes, or just enjoy the changing seasons from the warmth and comfort of your little apartment.

Vermont has the lowest rate of Covid infections in the country, and we are trying to keep it that way. Nearly everywhere you go almost all people are wearing masks, and respecting social distancing. Please feel free to send me a note if you are interested in coming for a few days or a few weeks for a little break from the routine.

Accès des voyageurs
Guests will have access to their own studio apartment that includes a kitchen, a full bathroom, and a living/bedroom. Since the beginning of the pandemic, I have been using a separate entrance, so they will also have their own entrance. While guests have typically used the porch, I have been asking for guests to not use the porch when I am home, as it is a shared space. They are still welcome to wander anywhere about the property.

I am a working professional and have been in my lovely home for 25 years now. I raised a family here, and now enjoy having my grandson come to visit in the same place his mom grew up. Since it’s just me now, the house is far too big, and I enjoy sharing it with guests from around the world. It works out perfectly, since my guests have their own private space, and are able to interact as much or as little as they please. If you come in the spring or summer, you will notice that I love gardening, and especially love to grow flowers. Creating a beautiful and comfortable space is one of my favorite pastimes. Nothing fancy here, but I hope that it will feel like home.
