The Tree House is set on a small hill in the tree tops with stunning views of the forrest. This eco house generates its own electricity and is designed to capture the sun. It is a great base to do the Tongariro Crossing from.

Le logement
Immerse yourself in The Tree House set in a romantic and tranquil bush setting.
You can laze upon the deck, perched high above the sparkling waters of the Tepure trout stream, listen to the bird song in the magnificent native forest trees below, or gaze across to the volcanoes of the Central Plateau in the Dual World Heritage Tongariro National Park.
The cabin delights in excitement, offering seclusion and providing inspiration from its design and elevated bush setting.
The Tree House generates its own electricity, sourcing energy from the wind and sun. This is in keeping with the self-sufficient philosophy of its owners. The wood stove provides heating as well as cooking, adding to the romance. Gas is used for a cook-top, refrigerator and water heating.

It is only 6 minutes’ drive to the nearest cafe and bar; 15 from the world-famous and iconic Chateau Tongariro and 20 from the Whakapapa ski field and Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Because of its rural aspect, the pressures of urban life are long forgotten.
An occasional passing train, far below as it approaches The Raurimu Spiral, is like watching a model railway; a second view shows the same train nearing the top of The Spiral as it heads south to Wellington. These views never fail to fascinate even those who normally have no interest in trains.
The cabin delights in excitement, offering seclusion and providing inspiration from its design and elevated bush setting. It sleeps five.

Stay in The Tree House and you will never want to leave.

Accès des voyageurs
Included in your booking is access to a hand built brick bbq, washing machine and clothes line, or if it is raining clothes can be dried inside on the aerial drying rack. If you need to use appliances that require a lot of electricity we have a diesel generator.

Autres points à prendre en note
There are 54 steps from the off street carpark to the Tree House. The second bedroom is up in a loft with a ladder as access. We do not service The Tree House daily. We have some mountain bikes for you to use for free.

You are staying in a rural area so privacy is an asset. The village of Raurimu has a cluster of houses in it, and the nearest cafes, restaurants and shops are a 6 minute drive away in National Park Village. We are very close to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and many other great walks, also New Zealand's largest ski area is just 20 minutes drive away.

Having travelled extensively around the world we have learned the importance and value of friendly staffing. We run our own accommodation business, Wood Pigeon Lodge, on our 40 acre property with this in mind. We also have about twenty cows and 50 sheep grazing our land. Tim tends to the accomodation and animals while Ewan is a local school teacher, who helps out when he is not busy teaching (in the holidays). We bought this land in 1998 when it was just a few paddocks and a hay barn. Together we have built our house and accommodation into what it is today. We are both keen skiers and love living off the land; we have a large vegetable garden, orchard and berry orchard. We are both enthusiastic gardeners and have enjoyed landscaping and maintaining the surrounding grounds. We regularly host Wwoofers from overseas, enjoying the cultural exchange that this provides. We continue to love to travel ourselves, often for part of a northern hemisphere ski season. We enjoy meeting people from around the world, and sharing our little patch of paradise.
