MORE ABOUT THE NOOKSACK RIVER: The Nooksack River is born among the glaciers and snowfields of Mount Baker, Mount Shuksan and the Twin Sisters Range. Its three forks roll down from the ramparts through shadow-dappled forest and verdant farmlands, sweeping past villages and towns, eventually flowing into the Salish Sea. The river is home to all five species of native salmon as well as steelhead and trout. Bald eagles line its banks in winter. Elk, mountain goats and bears roam the wild country of the watershed. It is currently being considered for WILD and SCENIC Designation. As a guest, you have access and time to explore! Bring water shoes since there are side channels and rocks. We request that you practice LEAVE NO TRACE use.

Accès des voyageurs

The entire 182 sq. ft. house is all yours! Please be aware you climb a steep ladder to sleeping loft. You are welcome to explore the property and the river island. Please remember the Nooksack River is glacier-fed (ice cold), with swift currents and debris flow. In the summer there are usually side pools that are "warmer' for wading/swimming. It is dangerous during all seasons.

Such a great experience!! Marilyn is what makes Airbnb so great. She was on hand when I arrived and for anything I might have needed. Her tiny home is adorable, came well stocked with coffee, tea, snacks and everything needed for a morning breakfast. It's 5 minutes down the road from Maple Falls Grocery stores and idyllically located on her large property complete with a cat, dogs, chickens and horses. I hope to be back again. Top tip: There's a lounge bed on the main floor if the ladder to the loft is not for you.

The host is friendly and helpful. The multiple dogs owned by the host are friendly and inquisitive. You'll see horses and chickens peacefully roaming about the lovely rural premises. The accommodations were clean and neat upon arrival.

Our stay at Marillyn’s cabin was fantastic. She was very accommodating of my very last minute reservation and was quick to reply to any questions I had. She came out to greet us when we first arrived (with her four friendly dogs) and let us know how everything worked and where the best hikes were. The cabin is well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay including a fridge, cook top, cookware and dishes, towels, bedding, and tons of pillows. There are horses and chickens on the land and it has a beautiful scenic view. It is a lot closer to the main house than I originally thought but was still fairly private. We couldn’t catch the wifi signal inside but if we really needed we would just go out and wander closer to the main house and it would connect. As Marillyn told us when we arrived, the top sleeping area does get quite warm quickly but there is a window that widely opens and a fan to circulate air. The front room wasn’t too comfortable to sit in with the straight backed wooden chairs but there is a good sized sleeping area in the back of the cabin which made for a perfect hang out spot. There are plenty of plug ins and the heater and hot water were quick to kick in. Marillyn had everything we needed for breakfast in the fridge all prepped and ready to go, it was great to be able to just wake up and throw everything in the pan. Very thoughtful! I would highly recommend stopped at Rifugio’s for dinner (about a 10 minute drive from the cabin). Overall it was a memorable trip and you definitely won’t be disappointed if you decided to book a trip here.
