Thank you sososo much for your advise to go hiking in the Windermere, the Orrest head is really a good place to go. Your house is really easy to find even if we arrived at over 10pm. The bath room is clean and the size of the room is the same as what the picture shows. Thank you ;)

Jan and Kristina are extremely helpful. Jan especially introduced us the different attractions in Kendal and cooked breakfast for my family. We enjoyed the stay very much but too bad it was raining which restricted us from walking around the town. There is no lift inside the premise and the elderly might request for the lower ground room. Highly recommended for all who plan to visit Windermere.

Jan & Kristina were excellent hosts. Dog friendly, roaring fire, tea/coffee, biscuits & complimentary Kendal Mint Cake. Excellent life saving advice on walking routes and local pubs. Even supplied us with a pair of walking boots when one of our party had a catastrophic equipment fail. Phibes (or dog) and us are already dreaming of our next visit.

I am an out going, approachable lady who has lived in the area most of my life. I enjoy travelling the UK as well as the rest of the world and have experienced many countries and their cultures. I am a trained Blue Badge Guide for Cumbria and have exceptional knowledge of Cumbria and the Lake District through which i regularly take guided groups out for tours to share my knowledge and educate people on this beautiful part of the world. I have a love for animals. George is the hostel cat (Ginger George) who lives in the hostel and is very relaxed and loves finding the warm spots. I also have a black Labrador called Masie who is always around me.
Me and my daughter have run the hostel since 2011 when the YHA decided to sell the property. We have a passion for our work and also wish every guest the best experience possible.
