Le logement
For winter access, 4-wheel or all-wheel drive is necessary and REQUIRED. We cannot predict snowstorms, snow depth or road conditions. During the winter, parking is near the entrance to the property and guests walk a short distance to the chalet. This cozy converted shed is an off-grid (no electricity), quaint mini-chalet complete with Swiss fondue pot! It is one-room measuring 10' x 12' with a sleeping loft above which you must climb a ladder to access, with a full-size mattress and full bedding. There is NO running water, indoor plumbing or electricity. Battery powered candles and lanterns provide lighting. The mini-chalet is NOT situated in a private setting as there is another bigger cabin very close by that is also an Airbnb rental. In addition, there is another tiny house rental cabin further down the road (out of sight). However there is a private hang out area exclusively for the mini-chalet with chairs, night time solar lighting, and outdoor dining set up (located a short walk past the outhouse) where you can relax in your own designated space. We have WiFi but cannot guarantee service as it is through Viasat on a "best-effort" delivery basis (not guaranteed).

The knotty-pine interior mini-chalet is heated by a wood-burning stove only that guests operate themselves. Guests need to bring their own bundles of locally-cut fire wood (sold at most grocery stores, Walmarts and some gas stations). We provide cardboard/paper scraps, some kindling, fire starter sticks, matches, and lighter fluid. It does not have electricity or running water. There are several battery-powered lanterns and battery-powered candles, and fairy lights throughout the mini-chalet.

Guests obtain drinking/cooking/washing water from a spigot at our main cabin using a 5-gallon camp style plastic water container that we provide. The water is from our deep well. There is a well-equipped kitchenette with a 2-burner propane stove (propane provided). There are pots, pans, a tea kettle, French press, and a Swiss fondue pot with forks. Guests need to bring sterno fuel canisters for fondue pot. We provide cooking utensils, cups, bowls, plates, silverware, knives, plastic wine glasses, bottle & can & wine openers. We provide paper towels, dish cloths, and cleaning supplies. We offer a selection of teas and hot chocolate as well as spices/seasonings, salt & pepper, popcorn, sugar and cooking oil. Bring your own COFFEE.

Guests climb the ladder to get to the sleeping loft which comes furnished with a full-size mattress, pillows, sheets, blankets and comforter. There is space for a third person to sleep on a sleeping pad as well.
If more beds are needed we can provide up to two cots, plus pillows, blankets and comforters.

A convenient and clean portable toilet/porta-potty is just a few steps away from the mini-chalet. Nearby is a short path leading to the private outdoor rec area with outdoor dining table and chairs (for 4 people). Our fire pit is currently off-limits. Any future fire pit use is subject to Boulder County fire bans AND/OR host restrictions. As private landowners/Airbnb hosts, we reserve the right to ban any and all campfires on our property at ANY time.

Play all day in Indian Peaks Wilderness, Brainard Lake Recreation Area, Estes Park, Rocky Mountain National Park, Boulder, or any of the dozens of nearby attractions. Then come home to this peaceful getaway where you can relax, cook a meal, build a fire, make smores, drink a glass of wine (or hot chocolate), journal, read, write, paint or just day dream.

This property is a wooded 8.5 acreage just outside Indian Peaks Wilderness and Brainard Lake Recreation Area in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. This property is a 35 minute drive from Boulder and 50 minutes from Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. The property sits at 9,500 feet elevation and is a perfect base camp for snowshoeing and skiing (winter months) or hiking/biking/exploring (summer months). It is located off of Brainard Lake Road. We provide two pairs of snowshoes -- free of charge -- to your guests during their stay.

I am a semi-native Coloradan – having migrated over 30 years ago from Iowa. I enjoy hiking, backpacking, fishing, lake kayaking, camping and cross country skiing. I spend a lot of time at my mountain house relaxing and enjoying the great outdoors. It serves as a really good "base camp" with close proximity to various attractions and recreational activities. I am NEVER bored. I create hand-made rustic home accents, furnishings and fixtures from local forest materials gathered on hikes. I also love to entertain friends and family, read, watch movies, visit various museums, learn about history, travel, nutrition, religion, and self-development. Two of my favorite quotes are: "Chance favors the prepared mind" and "Persistence is omnipotent". My husband, Lindsey, and I really enjoy meeting and visiting with new acquaintances locally, when we host and when we travel. We are both really friendly and talkative and love to help others feel welcomed and comfortable when we are hosting. As travelers, we love to engage with locals and really learn the ins and outs of a place, exploring those places "off the beaten path". Likewise, we love to share our knowledge of our neck of the woods and to serve as a great resource to visitors.

Durant votre séjour

My husband and I are generally available by cell phone, text and email. AT&T cell service works from the mini-chalet, but not perfectly.
