In terms of location, cleanliness, design, facilities (pool, etc), this place is great however there were a few things that let me down personally. I don't know if other people would care about these things but they are:
- The bed was really hard. I know it's Asia and you guys love hard beds but this was really quite hard. In addition, the pillows were really cheap / poor quality so after a month of sleeping here my neck / back wasn't too good. the doona was also cheap / thin. As a side, the design of the bed has a wooden frame sticking out all the way around the bed with sharp corners. Maybe I'm just clumsy, but I found myself constantly hitting my shins on the wood.
- The aircon has a remote with settings but they do nothing. The air con is either off, or high and very cold. This became really frustrating because the constant high setting = noisy and sometimes just too cold. I had to turn it on and off constantly. I ended up buying my own fan to help regulate things.
- There's cooking facilities but the red pot and pan provided seem to be for decoration only. Do not use them as the paint on the bottom will immediately burn and leave marks on the hotplate and pot / pan. I bought my own pan which was no big deal really.
- The internet is fast... but, about 4 times a day it just drops out and I have to switch to 4G on my phone for 10 - 15 minutes. Whilst perfect internet is almost impossible to find in Asia I just felt let down because of the listing saying "fast internet" and so with that I expected also "stable internet" and didn't get that.
I could have raised these issues with the host but I knew from many years using AirBNB (and just plain logic) that there would be little he could do. A new air con, new bed / pillows / doona, and some real pots and pans... and it'd really make this place perfect.
I'm not saying you shouldn't stay here, I'm just saying with the above problems it's not worth the asking price.
