We will be available to be reached by phone, text, or email. Laura (Sara's sister), the property manager, lives just down the road with her husband and children, and will be available for questions or assistance. She can be reached by phone. If by chance Laura is unavailable then Becky, the assistant manager, will also be around to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Host interaction with guests depends on your comfort level. We respect your privacy completely, but if you want our hosts to come up and help you build a campfire and make s'mores, or maybe chat on the phone about the best local restaurants or shopping, they are available.
We are happy to accommodate special requests for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. If you want a sign placed out celebrating your special day, a special food item purchased, candles set out, or even a mini-acoustic concert by our host (who happens to be a professional singer), serenading your sweetheart, we can make it happen. We would love to make your stay a memorable one to the best of our ability. Prices and availability for these services vary so please submit your request in advance.
Welcome to your very own "5 billion star hotel"! Step outside at night and you will hear crickets chirping, gaze upon the milky way, and enjoy the smell of the desert sage surrounding you. Please remember that you are in the country in a beautiful, natural habitat. During your stay you may encounter any of the following creatures: crickets, grasshoppers, toads, stink-bugs, houseflies, daddy-long legs, house spiders, etc. You may hear a rooster crowing or dogs barking. You may walk out your door one morning and find a herd of cows grazing across the fence.
This is part of the Desert Sage Chalet experience and we hope you are patient with mother nature.
Welcome! We hope your stay at the Desert Sage Chalet is a wonderful experience.
We have a window at the top of the stairs that is accessible to children. If you are traveling with small children you must place the gate provided in the window to prevent falls and/or it is recommended to keep the window locked.
We live in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood. The neighbor to the west of the chalet has small children that periodically go into the road, so please be very watchful when you drive past their house and drive slowly.
Smoking is permitted outside on the patio. There is an ashtray for your convenience. Do not throw cigarette butts on the ground due to fire risk. Please do not smoke in the house, no exceptions. Also, please ensure that the door to the house is closed when smoking outside.
If by chance the weather is rainy or wet, please remove your shoes before walking on the carpet. :)
Please leave the house in clean condition. Please wash your own dishes and be sure that trash ends up in the trash can. Our house sleeps up to six but often times we book fewer guests. If this is the case and you do not use all the beds in the house, please do not make the beds that you sleep in. We appreciate your thoughtfulness, but this way our cleaning lady is able to tell which sheets need to be washed.
Our home sleeps up to six people. The number of guests staying must be stated at the time of booking. Additional guests may be approved with prior notice. The charge for extra guests is $10 per night and must have prior approval. If it is determined that extra guests are staying without prior approval the property manager has the right to ask all guests to vacate immediately.
Because we are in a rural community there is an issue with bugs and especially files. Please do not leave the doors open and only leave windows open that have screens on them. (We are in the process of ordering screens for all the windows, sorry for any inconvenience.)
Our property managers come up every couple days to the house to water the flowers and the grass. They do their best to respect your privacy and may or may not say hello for that reason.
In the event of a maintenance emergency, the managers may either request entry to the house or enter while guests are gone. Again, guest privacy and property will be completely respected.
Fireworks of any kind are not allowed on the property.
Please do not use the wood-burning stove.
