Built over decades on land bought after WWII. Carl Bacon, an engineer by trade, had a dream to build a castle in the mountains. Bacon used concrete and steel as a base, and finished with reclaimed wood from an old family farm and one of Knoxville's oldest country clubs. Thus producing a warm & eclectic feel.
After his passing, I commissioned to buy the estate, and to continue Mr. Bacon's dream. The restoration pushes the idea that everything should be an adventure, even your home.
Custom built using reclaimed materials from an old family farm in Knoxville, the Edelweiss Estate has been restored using modern touches with the idea that your vacation residence should be as much of an adventure as your home away from home. The estate offers open-concept living space with exposed brick, stone and wood. Surrounded by natural beauty with the luxury of modern amenities, all spaces are designed with an immersive media experience with access to games, TV shows, movies, and more via Apple TV. It is the perfect oasis for your retreat or family gathering.
As you enter on the drive, pull up the driveway to the steel frame door. As you open the door, enter the foyer, which opens ahead into the theater room, hidden by Narnia closet doors. The theater room includes a SIFA designed home theater and two sets of bunk beds with twin XL mattresses custom built to accommodate adults and kids alike. The space is kid-friendly and has been built for safety, fun and durability. Comfortable seating is centered in the room for the perfect movie theater experience.
You access the living space to the left from the foyer. The main floor includes two bedrooms, each equipped with Tuft & Needle mattresses, an HDTV, and their own private entry to the main level balcony where you can wake up to the sunrise. The modern bathroom is found at the end of the hall and includes a vanity, shower, toilet and a washer/dryer for your use.
The top floor contains a beautiful sectional couch, a long handcrafted wood table that seats 12 and an open, light-filled kitchen with pipe shelving and custom cabinetry. With windows lining the wall, you can watch the sunrise and enjoy time on the spacious deck overlooking the valley and Mount Leconte or sink into the couch and watch a movie with friends and family.
The basement boasts a leather couch, a pool table, and a full bathroom. Enjoy snacks and drinks while competing with your friends. Walk out the door onto a beautiful brick patio and experience the beautiful outdoors.
We are proud to offer access to all of Chalet Village's community amenities, including six pools, universal fitness centers, game rooms, meetings and gatherings spaces, and tennis courts. The pools are all outdoor and are open from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend. (The closest pool is only a 2 minute drive from The Estate!)

Guests will be able to access all areas in the main home except the owner's closet on the basement floor.
Guests will have access to three clubhouses in the Chalet Village neighborhood that include pools, game rooms, tennis courts, state of the art meeting and gathering spaces and more.
Guests will not have access to the stones down to the patio, the greenhouse, the attic or the in-law suite (a separate apartment that is currently unoccupied and that I hope to eventually add to the main house offering.).

When designing how people would interact with media during their stay at The Edelweiss Estate we took a drastic step forward. In doing so we increased our media offering to the massive offerings of Amazon, Hulu and Netflix but gave up traditional cable. We are strong believers in being cutting-edge so we included beautifully large TVs in almost every space (practically everywhere but the bathrooms) and paired them with the latest Apple TV. This offers our guest the opportunity to play games and watch everything from what aired last night to movies produced in the 40's.
In short, we do not offer any sort of cable. We do have the ESPN, NBA, MLB and NFL (and more..) for the Apple TVs, so we can generally find a way for our guests to watch their favorite sport, show or event.

Guests agree to sign our contract with the terms laid out below:
PERSONS AND PREMISES
Jet Resorts, LLC, hereinafter referred as “Lessor," hereby leases
_________________, hereinafter referred to as “Lessee," those certain premises, hereinafter referred to as “the premises," and further describes The Edelweiss Estate at 1235 Edelweiss Drive, Gatlinburg, Tennessee, on the following terms and conditions.
TERM OF RENTAL AGREEMENT
The term of this agreement shall be for day to day use commencing at
_________________________________ and ending at _________________________________.
Lessee agrees to pay, and Lessor agrees to accept, as a rent for the use
and occupancy of the premises the sum of ________. Lessee shall pay a reservation deposit to Lessor via Lessor's online booking manager (e.g. Airbnb, (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), etc.) at the time of the reservation. The primary Lessee, who has signed this document, acknowledges that they are 18 (eighteen) years of age or older.
CANCELLATION AND DATE CHANGE
The Lessee understands that reservations cancelled will abide by the terms stated on the Lessor's booking manager's site.
CONDITIONS AND MAINTENANCE OF PREMISES
Lessee agrees to:
A. Keep the premises in good order and condition during the lease
period and upon expiration or termination of this agreement, to surrender the premises to the Lessor in as good condition as existed on the date at
the time of their arrival, reasonable wear and tear or damage by the
elements excepted. Reasonable wear and tear will be determined by the
Lessor, the Lessor's agents and/or the Lessor's contractors upon arrival within 48 hours from the expiration of this agreement. Photographs may be taken to substantiate condition of the premises.
B. Immediately notify Lessor of any defects, dilapidation or dangerous
conditions as well as the identification of any items for repair.
C. Promptly reimburse Lessor for the cost of any repairs to the premises,
or the equipment of personal property subject to this lease, caused by
Lessee's negligence or misuse or the negligence or misuse of any
Lessee's invitees, licensees or guests. Lessee is obligated to restrict the
number of guests to the number paid for in this contract and calculated
per the amount specified herein. Lessee understands that repair costs are
the responsibility of the Lessee and Lessor will have all available
remedies for the collection of these expenses.
The premises shall be used only as a single-family residence with occupancy of ten (10) people maximum, and Lessee shall not permit on the premises or use any part thereof for: 1. the conduct of any offensive, noisy, or dangerous activity that would increase the premiums of fire insurance on the premises; 2. the creation or maintenance of public nuisance; 3 anything which is against the laws or rules and regulations of any public authority at any time applicable to the premises; 4. any purpose or in any manner which will obstruct, interfere or infringe on the rights of other tenants of the Lessor.
Lessee shall not smoke or permit smoking in or around the premises. If smoking is found to have occurred, a fee of $150.00 will be charged to the Lessee. If the Lessee finds evidence of smoking upon their arrival to the premises, the Lessee is obligated to inform the Lessor immediately, otherwise such evidence will be attributed to the Lessee stated herein. Furthermore, any violations resulting in fines by use of these items issued by an enforcement agency, local, county, state or federal will be at the expense of the Lessee who shall be responsible for all his/her invitees and / or guests. Additionally, any unpaid fines for violations that are billed through to the Lessor will constitute breach in this agreement if Lessee has not paid them within 30 days of receipt from Lessor of such fines and the Lessor will have all available remedies for the breach as provided hereunder.
ALTERATION AND IMPROVEMENTS
Lessee shall make no alterations or improvements to the premises nor do
any painting or redecoration of the premises. Lessee shall not remove
any item or items from the premises. Should Lessee make any
alterations or improvements to the premises or do any painting or
redecorating of the premises without the prior express written consent of
Lessor, or should Lessee damage or depreciate the premises, then the
full cost of restoring the premises to the prior condition shall be borne by
Lessee and promptly paid, on written demand, to the Lessor.
HOLD HARMLESS CLAUSE
Lessee agrees to indemnify and hold Lessor and the property of Lessor,
including the premises, free and harmless from any and all liability,
claims, loss, damages, or expenses, including any attorney's fees and / or
costs, arising by reason of death or injury of employee or agent of
Lessee, or by reason of damage to or destruction of any property,
including property owned by Lessee or any person who is an employee
or agent of Lessee caused or allegedly caused by some condition of the
premises that was previously known to Lessor but undisclosed to Lessee,
the fault of the Lessee, or some act or omission, whether or not negligent
or intentional, of Lessee or any person in, on, or about the premises as a
guest, licensee or invitee of Lessee.
ASSIGNMENT AND SUBLETTING
Lessee shall not assign this agreement or sublet all or any portion of the
premises to any other person or persons without the express written consent of the Lessor.
DESTRUCTION OF PREMISES
Should any part of the premises be destroyed by fire, casualty, or other
cause not the fault of Lessee, Lessor shall promptly repair and restore
the premises to their former condition at Lessor's sole cost and expense.
During the making of the repair and restoration work, the rent payable
under this agreement shall be abated for the time and to the extent that
Lessee is prevented from fully occupying and enjoying the premises
under this agreement in Lessee's usual and normal manner.
However, in lieu of making such repairs and performing such restoration
work, Lessor may terminate this agreement where either
1. The necessary repair or restoration work can not reasonably be
completed under applicable laws and regulations within 30 working
days after it is commenced, or
2. The loss is not covered by Lessor's applicable fire and extended
insurance policies, provided that such policies are of an adequate
and reasonable nature. If Lessor chooses to terminate this lease
under the provisions of this paragraph, any security deposits and / or
unused rent shall be returned to the Lessee. Lessee is responsible for
carrying insurance on all personal belongings that are kept on the
premises during the duration of this agreement.
ACTS CONSTITUTING A BREACH BY LESSEE
Lessee shall be guilty of a material breach of this agreement should
A. Fail to pay any rent or other sum becoming payable under this
agreement on or before the date it becomes due;
B. Default in the performance of or breach any provision, term,
covenant, or condition of this lease;
C. Breach this agreement.
Should any litigation result between the parties to this lease concerning
the premises, this lease, or the rights and duties of either in relation
thereto, the party, Lessor or Lessee, prevailing in such litigation shall be
entitled to, in addition to such other relief as may be granted, a
reasonable sum for attorneys' fees to be determined by the court in such
SOLE AND ONLY AGREEMENT
This instrument constitutes the sole and only agreement between Lessor
and Lessee respecting the premises or the renting of the premises and
any equipment or personal property subject to this agreement to Lessee
by Lessor. It correctly sets forth the obligations of Lessor and Lessee to
each other as of its date, and any agreements or representations
respecting the premises, the equipment or personal property subject to
this agreement or their renting by Lessor to Lessee not expressly set
forth herein are void.
In accordance with the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act, Lessor and Lessee choose to accept digital signatures as original during the course of this transaction and understand that agreeing to accept digital signatures from the other party does not commit to using digital signatures exclusively.
