This cottage on a beachfront property on west Grand Lake is the perfect place to unwind and relax! Enjoyed by four generations of our family and our many friends, we have had many repeat visitors who book vacations at "their cottage". Take a look!

Le logement
Enjoy summer days in this relaxing cottage! Sweep sand out the door once a day and play in the water, relax on the beach, go for a cycle or enjoy a good book lounging in the hammock. In the evenings take a drive to Indian Point (the location of a former Indian summer camp) for amazing sunsets, visit an old Scottish cemetary and then come back to the cottage to enjoy a bonfire on the beach. In the mornings simply wake up early and look out the window to start your day with a sunrise that will inspire and energize!

The cottage is well equipped for just about anything - including baking a birthday cake! It has a swing set and beach toys for kids, and toys for dogs! It has an abundance of books and games and access to cable and the Internet. Although built 50 years ago, and my mother's dishes and my fathers handy work are still evident, the cottage has a new well, roof, and septic system and a recently renovated bathroom. With a table that extends to seat 10, a washer and dryer, and plenty of sheets, towels and lawn chairs - this retreat awaits your visit.

For those who want or need to stay connected to work, you can use our WiFi to connect to your office, yet listen to waves crashing on the beach to nurture your soul. Grand Lake is the largest fresh water lake this side of the Great Lakes, so some days the sound can almost be mistaken for the ocean.

The cottage is easily accessible from the Trans Canada Highway when driving from Moncton or Fredericton; detailed driving instructions are available. The cottage is a 40 minute drive from Fredericton; 30 minute drive from Oromocto.

Accès des voyageurs
While you are a guest at the cottage, the cottage is yours. Please note that this cottage is on a well and septic system so you will need to be mindful of water usage and what is flushed. Cars must be parked on the side of the road near the swing set to avoid damage to the septic field which is next to the cottage.

Autres points à prendre en note
The cottage is pet friendly. If you bring pets be aware that this is a rural area and there are raccoons and porcupines that visit at night; so it is best to have your animals on a leash after dark. As well, there are plenty of deer and you may have complaints if the deer are chased.

Scotchtown, New Brunswick, Canada

Located at the end of a quiet dirt road, on a property that was originally part of a farm, the cottage has a lakefront beach with boat access. On the same road are 4 other cottages built by friends and engineering associates of my parents; these are still owned by the same families. It is a quiet but friendly neighborhood - so please say hello! Within walking distance is a small church, and within a 2 minute drive is a fire department and community hall where pancake breakfasts are served every Saturday and yoga lessons provided through the week. Drive 5 minutes and you reach Douglas Harbour where there is a year round general store, liquor store and gas bar. Other groceries and supplies and a golf course are available by car within a 30 minute drive to the communities of Oromocto or Minto.

I grew up in Fredericton, New Brunswick and attended university there, graduating from the University of New Brunswick (UNB) with my Bachelor of Nursing degree. I met my husband at UNB and moved to PEI (where we now live), attending the University of Edinburgh when our children finished high school. There I completed a Masters in Nursing Studies and soon embarked on a new career in health promotion. My husband and I now have 5 grandchildren who give new excitement and meaning to our lives. Our son and his family live close by; we see his three girls daily. Our daughter and her family live in Hamburg, Germany; we treasure our visits and are thankful for Internet connections. Our cottage is an inheritance from my parents and holds many happy memories for me, my brothers, children, grandchildren and friends. My first memory is that of sitting in the branches of a tree, reading a book and looking out over the lake. That was before the cottage was built. A few years ago, I found a poem written by my grandmother about her love for Grand Lake. It was wonderful to discover that connections to this lake have been in our family for generations. I love to travel, spend time with friends and family, take time for reading, yoga, cycling, baking, and sewing - and build and pass on traditions! Because we live in PEI, we cannot be at the cottage as much as we might like. In renting the cottage we are sharing a place we love and enjoy the fact that our repeat guests love it as much as we do!
