We believe in letting you enjoy your private space, but at the same time we want to take the mystery out of questions that might come up. We'll start by providing you a planning packet that gives you lots of tips on how to enjoy the area and outlines information about how to enjoy your stay at your new home.
Upon your arrival you will meet your Costa Rican host, Yami Astorga. She speaks fluent Spanish and English and will give you an orientation, answer questions you might have and be helpful with resources and ideas so you can get the most out of your stay. She will give you the electronic codes to access the doors and the safe for your personal belongings as well. Yami is on call if any concerns come up. You'll enjoy her great laugh and congeniality. On occasion her sporty teenage son, Aaron, will appear on his bicycle to help you out as needed.
Why visit Turrialba? We believe Turrialba is nested in the most perfect valley in Costa Rica. The bustling provincial town is surrounded by green hills and a smoking volcano almost 11'000 high -- the scenery couldn't be better. Twilight and evenings are spectacular as you gaze out enjoying the city lights. Your cabana sits at an elevation of 2700' which equates to a near perfect climate and overlooks the village below. The Turrialba Valley gives visitors many choices of places to see and activities to experience. Here is our top 10 activities to consider:
1) Raft the Pacuare River with EXPLORNATURA, our local adventure company.
2) Visit Guayabo National Archeological Park.
3) Take a tour of the Golden Bean Coffee Plantation and Mill.
4) Join a naturalist for a guided tour of CATIE - an international research facility for tropical life.
5) Dine at many fine restaurants in and around town. ANGOSTURA is our favorite.
6) Visit the Varon Club with work out facility, swimming pool and a variety of classes to energize you.
7) Sign up for Spanish School. We have two within walking distance from the bamboo cabana.
8) Be adventuresome and sign up for Canyoneering with EXPLORNATURA. You will fly through the forest canopy on 5 zip lines, cross a hanging bridge, and rappel down several waterfalls.
9) Search out with the secret map the Aquiares Waterfall, a world class swimming hole and a giant Ceiba tree (which is a Costa Rican natural monument".
10) Enjoy passing time in the town park, the center of Turrialba, and enjoy the sights, the people, and whatever presents itself!
