Cute, cozy cabin in Big Bay in the wild, open goodness of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Modern amenities with backwoods, rustic charm. Queen bed, full kitchen, and you might spot a deer in the backyard by the firepit!

Le logement

This open concept cabin is clean, inviting, and breathes every bit of relaxation. Perfect for a few days in the woods to get away from it all.

Shower, running water, Keurig coffee maker, propane heat for chilly nights, fridge, full kitchen (sink, oven with gas range, cookware, utensils, plates) and Queen King Koil bed. Bar soap and fluffy towels provided. Enjoy the firepit! Lake Independence is right down the street with access point for boating. A perfect blend of modern luxuries with rustic charm.

Our deeded access point to Lake Independence is perfect for launching a kayak, canoe, or small craft. We recommend launching larger craft that require a ramp at nearby Perkins Park (~2 miles from the cabin)

Autres remarques

Our Lake Independence access point is right down the street! You can see the lake from the porch.

We have tested cell service for ATT&T and Verizon at the cabin to great results. We have 4G and full bars. However, depending on your network, we can't guarantee that you will be in a service area. Be mindful of this and check with your network provider if you have any questions.

The water has been occasionally running orange with iron and clay sediment this summer. The water was tested when the well was drilled, and it is safe for showers. While the water is, to the best of our knowledge, safe for drinking and cooking, we have provided plentiful bottled water for drinking and cooking and we recommend using it. You may also let the water run for a few minutes to allow it to clear.

The directions from Apple and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) were inaccurate and we were seriously lost. When we tried calling we did not get a response. We finally found the place and there were dead bugs on the wall and the shower was disgusting. Hair was on the bottom. We didn't stay.

Réponse de Daniel :
The guest fails to mention that adequate directions are provided in our "House Manual," as well as our due notification that cellular service may not work in the area. Guest left a voicemail in the late hours of the night while we were asleep, and we communicated early the next morning to attempt to find a resolution. By then, they had cancelled their booking and stopped communicating. Bugs infrequently inhabit our cabin. We provide a fly-swatter for this off-chance. We provide bug spray for outdoor activities. The cabin is completely sealed. This is nonsense, as far as "dead bugs on the wall." Bugs do and can cling to the outside lights. Because it's a cabin in the woods and moths and mayflies especially are drawn to lights, depending on the season. We cannot control insect populations, outside of the cabin. There will be bugs, and stars, and sometimes deer and bear and moose. Such is the life up here. We apolgize for Heather's negative experience but urge our guests to read our "House Manual" and our listing, proper. This is the good, wild woods of the Upper Peninsula. And it can be a little uncomfortable for some. But we do not mislead our guests and always try to help our guests have a wonderful time enjoying the woods of the Upper Peninsula. Read our other reviews to see why folks from all over the country have found charm and peace in our little neck of the woods.

Lot of beautiful nature we saw four baby robins hatch and grow to full size over two weeks. The was regularly a doe with two fauns in the yard and even saw a coyote walking in the back yard. This property is very peaceful and quiet with just the right amount of shops in the town. There are a lot of great nature spots to find and explore.

Loved staying at the cabin. It was a lot more than what we expected. It was clean and at a great location. There's so much to see around and so many things to do. The dogs loved the small beach nearby.

Our two-week stay at Daniel's magical cabin was perfect! Everything was beautifully thought-out with the comfort of the guests in mind, from the ample bottles of water to the freshly laundered linens. We did not want for anything. Daniel responded quickly and patiently to our many questions before the trip and could not have been friendlier. The cabin itself was the perfect hideaway for two tired and stressed-out city dwellers and the surrounding area peaceful and remote. Plenty of opportunities for grilling out, star-gazing and, in our case, playing and recording music. Thanks Daniel for helping to make this the best vacation either of us have ever had!

We had such a wonderful time in Daniel’s cabin in the North woods of Big Bay. We’re grateful for the opportunity to spend the weekend in such a quiet, beautiful, and cozy cabin. Daniel had excellent communication and was responsive to all of my questions. This was my first AirBNB experience and I’m pleased that it went remarkably pleasant and easy. The cabin had all of the usual amenities as you’d find in any hotel which ensured that we had a very comfortable stay. We we’re also very appreciative of the bottled water that Daniel thoughtfully left out for us since we didn’t have that much room in our vehicle. Although it rained for the most part of our trip, there was a large backyard and a fire pit that we wish we could’ve used. However, the calm rain falling on the leaves and cool breeze blowing through the windows more than made it for it. I also appreciated the good water pressure of the shower. If you’re considering a getaway in the scenic woods of the UP, enjoy serene views of Lake Superior, or want to reconnect with nature, then this is the place for you. Thank you for such a wonderful time, Daniel. We hope to be back!

Such a pleasant time. It's clear that Daniel really wants his guests to be comfortable and happy. The cabin was so clean (and BUG-FREE, which I would never expect from any cabin in the woods). And we had more than enough bottled water to replace the well water. We were even greeted by a couple of deer in the yard one morning. This cabin was lovely for both the outdoor (making fires, taking walks, catching lake breezes) and the indoor (cooking, sleeping, staying dry in the rain) stuff.

Daniel's cabin was perfect for our long weekend! It was just as pictured, very clean, and had all the amenities we needed, even down to K-cups for the Kuerig. This was our first time using Air BnB, and Daniel was great. He was very quick at responding, and provided us great suggestions for our UP trip. We definitely recommend Sugarloaf Mountain, Presque Isle, and hiking to the Black Rocks! We'll try to be back soon! Thanks for the hospitality, Daniel!
