Welcome to The Stable, The Hawksnest and The Red Shed, 672 Queen Anne Road, Harwich, MA, 02645.
The Stable House is well over 100 years old (possibly 200+ pre-civil war) and dates back to a different time. It was originally, as the name implies, a Stable and adjacent Tack room. This early stage of the Stable’s life is captured in a mural in the main house, hayloft stairway. The Stable was converted to a residence sometime early in the 20th Century. It has recently been purchased and is undergoing a renovation update that will preserve its character while providing for modern conveniences.
The Stable sits astride Queen Anne Road, one of the oldest ways in America. It was originally an Indian Trail. It was improved upon and widened by the Settlers in the (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) timeframe, who decreed that it shall connect Yarmouth and Monomoy and shall be call Queen Anne’s Road.
I will do what I can to make your visit as pleasant as possible. Welcome!
p.s. In the Map on the right you see out location and the ponds to the northeast. It is a brisk 15 min walk out the back and through Harwich Conservation land and Hawksnest Park to the small beach on the southside of what is labeled Walkers Pond – that is referred to by the locals as “Hawksnest Pond”. This is a beautiful pristine dog friendly swimming pond and a hidden jewel on the Cape. It can also be access by the unimproved road shown coming in from the east.

Hi, I have had a Harwich home for over 40 years. I think it is one of the best towns on the Cape. I am writing a book (2 books actually) and enjoying working this little mini-farm and converted rustic old stable. I have two small dogs that are a lot of fun. I play senior sports on the Cape. I like being at home!
