Welcome to The Stable, The Hawksnest and The Red Shed, 672 Queen Anne Road, Harwich, MA, 02645.
The Stable House is well over 100 years old (possibly 200+ pre-civil war) and dates back to a different time. It was originally, as the name implies, a Stable and adjacent Tack room. This early stage of the Stable’s life is captured in a mural in the main house, hayloft stairway. The Stable was converted to a residence sometime early in the 20th Century. It has recently been purchased and is undergoing a renovation update that will preserve its character while providing for modern conveniences.
The Stable sits astride Queen Anne Road, one of the oldest ways in America. It was originally an Indian Trail. It was improved upon and widened by the Settlers in the (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) timeframe, who decreed that it shall connect Yarmouth and Monomoy and shall be call Queen Anne’s Road.
I will do what I can to make your visit as pleasant as possible. Welcome!
Your host,
p.s. In the Map on the right you see out location and the ponds to the northeast. It is a brisk 15 min walk out the back and through Harwich Conservation land and Hawksnest Park to the small beach on the southside of what is labeled Walkers Pond – that is referred to by the locals as “Hawksnest Pond”. This is a beautiful pristine dog friendly swimming pond and a hidden jewel on the Cape. It can also be access by the unimproved road shown coming in from the east.

We had a really nice stay at Jeff's place. It is just as described. We slept with all the sliding glass doors open. We appreciated the barbecue and picnic table and were able to prepare a couple of nice meals. The red shed is adjacent to a large conservation area (state park?) with trails and a short walk to a pristine pond with a perfect little swimming beach. A short drive to the many beaches at Harwich Port. Thanks Jeff.

Amazing place to stay! Jeff is an perfect host who deserved is “super host” title. He called us before our arrival and during our stay to make sure every was okay and to give us information about beaches and relative parking, restaurant, etc. He built the red shed with a lot of love and efforts. Everything in it is absolutely well chosen and beautiful! There was a comfortably queen bed, a table with two chairs, a bathroom with shower, a fridge, a microwave. Moreover, there was coffee (with cream and milk in the fridge!), tea, oatmeal squares and even popcorn! We strongly recommend this place and we’ll definitely reserved again next year.

The Red Shed was absolutely perfect my partner and my's weekend at the Cape with our pup. It is super comfortable and clean, and Jeff left so many homey touches like food for breakfast and towels and restaurant suggestions. The location in Harwich was super, close to the beach and great running and biking trails. We will certainly be staying there again if we go back to Capd Cod! Jeff is also super easy to communicate and accommodating. Plus the outdoor shower was a lovely bonus :) Thank you so much Jeff!

This place is an excellent value, has some unique and lovable features, and Jeff goes out of his way to make sure you're OK. There are many pluses and only a few minuses. Here's what we thought. It's a tiny house with a single room and floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides. It is quiet with lots of trees and surrounded by hiking paths. To get there, you drive up a steep driveway, unlatch two gates in succession, drive through and close them behind you. This might be a hassle for solo travelers, but if there are two of you, it's not a problem. To feed yourself, you get a microwave, coffee maker and a small dorm-style refrigerator. Outside on the patio there is a gas grill, which is easy to operate and gets hot fast. We had steaks, corn on the cob, potatoes and toasted buns. Excellent! The air conditioner also works as a heat pump. There is also a space heater. Jeff got us a blanket when we asked, but it turned out that we didn't need it. The shower has a tank that, I believe, holds about four gallons. This means that you need to shower fast. Get wet, turn off the water, soap yourself up, then turn on the water again and rinse. If you've lived on a boat, you know the drill. I was fine with it. If you like to luxuriate in a long shower, it might not be for you. The only issue that I found was the placement of the toilet in the (small) bathroom. It faces the wall and is so close that your legs are jammed into the wall. I don't spend much of my life on the toilet, so it didn't bother me in the few days I stayed there, but if I had stayed longer it might have gotten annoying. On the other hand, I'm 6'4", and it's possible that it might not be as much of a problem for shorter people. All in all, I was quite happy with Jeff's place. It was definitely above average as a beach accommodation (minus the beach -- but the beach is very close!). I would stay there again and I recommend that you try it out as well.

The Red Shed was perfect for our 1st Anniversary getaway to the Cape! The Red Shed is just lovely - it's warm and inviting and had everything we needed. The property is beautiful and cozy and we felt right at home. Jeff was a wonderful host and made sure we had everything we needed, and he left us a beautiful welcome basket of snacks. He also offered up his local recommendations and made sure we were well taken care of if we needed anything. The location of the Red Shed is great, its central to all areas of Cape Cod and the Islands and it has a beautiful large fenced in yard that our puppy loved. We were able to let him off the leash and have a good run around. We really enjoyed our stay and wish we could have stayed longer! We can't wait to return! We highly recommend the Red Shed!

Jeff's Red Shed was absolutely delightful. Sunny, airy, and clean, with everything we needed for our getaway. Jeff is a warm and prompt host, and made sure we felt welcome. We stayed for our honeymoon, and it was exactly what we hoped; private and quiet, but close to beaches, restaurants, and shopping. We also took advantage of Jeff's recommendations regarding whale watches and had a magical experience seeing the humpback whales. We made the quick trip to Provincetown and enjoyed the benefits of spending the day there, and then heading home to the peace and quiet of the Red Shed. We will be returning as soon as possible!

Jeff's red barn is a slice of paradise especially if you have a dog. It's very private yet completely fenced in. All of the comforts for both (wo)man and dog have been thought of. I especially loved the "outdoor kitchen" equipped with a beautiful large gas grill, beautiful view and picnic table to especially enjoy your morning coffee. Jeff's place has all of the creature comforts and is perfectly located to be near the bike rail trail, beaches, shopping, restaurants and kayaking. I highly recommend it and look forward to staying there again.

Hi, I have had a Harwich home for over 40 years. I think it is one of the best towns on the Cape. I am writing a book (2 books actually) and enjoying working this little mini-farm and converted rustic old stable. I have two small dogs that are a lot of fun. I play senior sports on the Cape. I like being at home!
