My place is close to art and culture, restaurants and dining, great views, parks. You’ll love my place because of the comfy bed, the kitchen, the views, and the coziness. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), big groups, and furry friends (pets).

Le logement

The apartment is attached to Weaver Bird, an artistic space where different creatives occasionally meet to share ideas and experiences on the development of art in Uganda. The space is composed of a lounging area and outdoor space plus a small art gallery.

Accès des voyageurs

The apartment is spacious enough with 2 bedrooms and a shared living room plus kitchen and bathroom. The outside area is suitable for small parties or gatherings.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

Even though this apartment has no permanent resident staying there but next door on the same building is my office where any further information or help can be sought at anytime between 9am and 6pm or call me on my cell phone as i live only a mile away.

Autres remarques

The wifi at the apartment is super reliable but runs via an internet router whose service bills are paid on a prepaid basis. Therefore my guest is required to pay for the service and depending on how much internet data one may be intending to use, the lowest data bundle is 1GB and costs Ush32000 ($9). This bundle could take you throughout the week if you are not downloading heavy videos.
Lastly but not least, all the proceeds from renting this rooms go towards Weaver Bird Arts Foundation community outreach programs. Weaver Bird is not-for-profit community based initiative.

Weaver Bird worked wonderfully for my time in Kampala. Bed was comfortable, apartment was clean, and in a quiet, conveniently-located neighborhood. Bathroom was a step up from other places I stayed at--good water pressure is a big plus. Nice kitchen if you want to cook, and Old Kira Rd is a few steps away if you want to try local food or buy fresh fruit or bottled water. Short walk (10min or so) or boda ride to Acacia Mall and Endiro Coffee shop. Kabira Country Club is also close if you want to swim or use the nice gym. I didn't go out at night much, but when I did, the place is easy to give directions to Uber and boda drivers. Collin & assistant Rashidah were responsive and lovely hosts. I would definitely stay here again.

Collin's place is great value. Fantastic location (pretty quiet for central Kampala), comfortable, and he was very helpful and flexible when I needed to extend my stay twice. I would certainly recommend his place!

The room at Weaver Bird is in a fantastic location within Kampala, a short walk to the Acacia Mall where there are nice cafes and restaurants. It is right next door to Collin's own art gallery and another gallery AfriArt on the other side. The apartment itself was simple, but comfortable and very good value for money compared to most hotels in Kampala.

I am a Visual Artist and a Social Entrepreneur.
One thing that i consider the best teacher of all time is TRAVELING. I have been to over 30 countries around the world and i can't stop yearning for more. Over the year i have seen very inspirational places and have met incredible people. I think that traveling from one continent or place to another will always give any traveler a more realistic picture of how people on the other side live, think act as opposed to some of the information that you would extract from international broadcasters. For me to get acquainted with and understand other cultures i have had to visit different places in the world.
Do you want to understand the Ugandan, Kenyan or Rwandan Societies? I would be more than happy to share so much with you when i meet you here in Uganda.
My best lesson from traveling is that everyone needs to be somewhere outside of their comfort zones so as to become fully knowledgable about what's going on elsewhere in the world.

My professional experience:
Over the past 8 years i have been on a mission of Using Art To Change Lives and i started this by opening the first Arts Center in Rwanda that is Ivuka Arts Kigali in 2007. The center was formed on the ideology that every disadvantaged youth needs a space for them to express themselves, heal and gain a sense of hope for the future. Ivuka achieved this goal within it's first 2 years of its operation and is still doing so up to today. Later on in 2010 my vision expanded into Uganda where i started working with a local community in Masaka, 120km South of Kampala; into the first of its kind Community for the Arts under the name Weaver Bird Art Community. The name Weaver Bird is an English translation of NDEGEYA which is the name of the village. Although most of the work is being done in Masaka but our administrative work is mainly centered at our Office on Kenneth Dale drive in Kamwokya, Kampala. Here we run as WEAVER BIRD ARTS FOUNDATION and this is where we rent out a private room for short stay visitors so to raise some funds for the project.
