Compact but cute! Instead of flat uninteresting desert, you will have a view of the foothills and the display of light changing them over the day. This is a double lot with Mexican brick walls and wrought iron gates. Easy walking around neighborhood and the area has many restaurants and shops. About 3 miles from Interstate 10 to go to downtown Yuma or into Mexico. Only renting from December 1st, 2016 through March 30, 2017.

We had an excellent time in Yuma (10 days) and will be coming back for probably 3 weeks next year. Joy was a great hostess and very thoughtful and accommodating. However, the casita was a lot smaller than we expected. For us, there were two very large drawbacks. One: there was no sitting area and we found there was no room to relax at the end of the day. We could not see from the lovely pictures, but there is not much space between the foot of the bed and the kitchen counter. We often moved the small patio table and chairs into the casita with no room to spare to play cards in the evening. There was no TV (the ad said there was a TV?) but we had access to the WiFi which we greatly appreciated to keep in touch with back home; research activities; and to entertain ourselves at night time. The weather was unusually cool this time of year so we were unable to utilize the table and chairs on the patio for meals (mostly breakfasts as we were out and about most of the day) so we ate standing in the casita. Two: we were unaware that the bed was a blow up air mattress and we averaged 4 hours a sleep per night from discomfort...however, I do have to say when the divider between two of the air mattress chambers popped to form one enlarged chamber, Joy was absolutely proactive in getting it replaced right away. A really nice positive was the kitchen counter area....there was a small hotel sized fridge w/freezer, a toaster, a hot plate, a microwave, dishes and pots and pans to use. Another great positive was a washing machine which we were able to use and hang our clothes to dry. Again, we give 5 stars to our host and to the area which was beautiful, but in the future we would need a tiny bit more breathing room for sitting and storing luggage for an extended stay and a regular bed.

I agree that not having a table inside is a drawback--the patio table for breakfast didn't work for you because we were 10 degrees lower in temperature than normal. Most guests just sit/lie on the bed to relax. The Casita has never had a TV (just the RV) until last Sunday. I decided to put one in and my new guests, Randy and Ruth, programmed it for me. There is no place on the site to mention that the queen bed is an air mattress on legs (normal height bed). I am surprised you had trouble sleeping as I lived in the Casita for two months straight and never had any problems with the mattress. Most of the prior guests piled their empty luggage in the bathroom in front of the cabinet next to the shower or in their car trunks.

Joy is very friendly. We were in town for a couple nights, for a wedding. The stay was perfect for us since we mainly just needed a place to sleep & get ready. Everything worked, was clean, & comfortable. Very charming place.

Super cute and definitely served as a great sleeping space. We were visiting family so we only stopped in to sleep each night. Joy was very friendly and accommodating and I would stay here again!

As is described kitchen is limited and you eat outside which most of the time is a nice experience. The quarters accommodate one person better than two. Still this is a good value and Joy is an accommodating host.

Joy is aptly named because she is a joy to be around. She was a charming, gracious, and thoughtful host. I enjoyed staying in her casita. She answered my questions regarding living in the area, introduced me to friends, and suggested activities we could do together. The casita is exactly as pictured. It was a very quiet neighborhood and I felt safe. Parking is off the street. I would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Joy is nice and it's a good value. Make sure you discuss who else will be using the laundry in the casita during your stay.

I did make up a Casita info sheet for the next guest--wish I had it ready for your stay. Sorry about your taking my description of the use of the washing machine incorrectly--I have now taken it off the list of amenities for the RV--they can go to laundromat. Don't understand about the toilet or microwave but it was cleaned by friends as I was in Oregon for Christmas so they may have not been as particular as I am. Dust is a daily problem in Yuma as the wind blows it around constantly.

Travel is my favorite thing--all over the world. I also love fireworks, fresh flowers, music in the park and my wonderful group of friends. I have a 10 lb Yorkshire Terrier.
