The lodge was built in 1835 as a hunting lodge for Sir John Richard Cotterell and is situated entirely on its own in the middle of 350 acre woodland and about a mile up a track. It is completely off grid, with solar power for some light and to power the fridge. The lodge has three woodburners - one in each of the bedrooms and one in the sitting room , and has running water from its own well. houses a gas powered shower and flushing loo, so this is not quite a typical camping experience, more like experiencing a turn back in time.
The lodge has not been used for probably 60 year s but has now been renovated to keep its charm, but to make it comfortable for guests with proper beds and a sink with hot water etc. There is a small camping stove for cooking, and also a huge firepit.
There is also a woodfired hot tub.
The lodge is ideal for couples, solo adventurers, and families (with kids).
