A private, bright room, steps from the seawall and Granville Island. Your room is clean, quiet and cozy—perfect for a genteel couple, or single woman. (Sorry, no solo men). Great for conferences on the Island, and in the perfect location to explore! My house is a live/work space. The kitchen is a part of my studio, and is available 7:00-10:30AM Only—for coffee or cereal. My guests take other meals out. Inexpensive and fresh options for meals are available at the Market —as well as fine dining.

Le logement

My house is a live/work space. However, the layout allows your room to be quite private. Your room is a fair size for a contemporary apartment, bright and cozy. We are right on the seawall, which transverses the entire downtown core. Our property is now designated as a "Forest", by the City of Vancouver, including a variety of urban wildlife, including herons, a peregrine falcon, and the usual bandit raccoons. You might also see an occasional skunk, who is well behaved so far. There is a pier on the seawall and the local sea otter visits every so often. We have harbour seals, barred owls, ravens, ducks, and the omni-present Canada Goose. False Creek is admired in the urban design arena world-wide by architects and planners, including Dubai. Our location, centrally located next to Granville Island is a great place to start exploring Vancouver.

Accès des voyageurs

The kitchen is available for coffee and cereal in the morning only. Because my studio is adjacent, I need the main floor free for my work space. Other meals can be had at many fabulous local eateries, minutes away on The Island, or just a short walk away. As my work allows, I sometimes socialize with my guests.
I have been known to be coaxed out for samples at at Granville Island Brewery, etc.. My guests have priority for the bath in the evening. I often work late into the night, and hang around with the local night owls; (The Barred Night Owls). This means you will probably have the kitchen to yourself in the morning, unless I have an appointment earlier in the day.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

I will be in my studio, or not far. I am available throughout the day to answer questions, unless I am out for an errand, or an evening event. Please \ask if you need Anything! I can be quite friendly and chatty. However, I generally need to have the main floor just on my own for work. Sometimes I have tea with my guests in the evening, before bed. I am interested in people's backgrounds, their story, and culture. I taught studio classes for many years, and miss having my students and others around daily.
On The Island there are a myriad of coffee cafes, and wonderful places to have lunch, dine, or take a ferry to downtown and beyond. I have been known to go with guests to Granville Island Brewery for the samplings they offer! There is no gym in the building, but the community centre is three minutes walk, across the park.

Autres remarques

We live in a very quiet and family centred co-op. Please ask me any questions you may have. I will be working in my studio during the day, and often well into the night. However, feel free to interrupt if you have a question, need directions, or suggestions about restaurants, places to go, etc. or guidance for communication with the cat. :O) She is extremely shy.

There are two flights of stairs, and your room is also upstairs. So three, or four flights of stairs!

RULES
-I can prepare the coffee machine for you the night before. You can bring your fave cereal etc. The Kitchen is availbe from 6:00 am to (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) am only. Please no cooking. Wonderful and inexpensive meals can be had at The Public Market. It has a beautiful public dining room, right on the water
-Please Note Age Requirement: I prefer a single woman, 29+ or a genteel couple 29+. If you are not 29+, and you would like to come, please contact me to see if it Might be Possible.
-No solo males.
-Before you book, kindly please tell me a little about about yourself: age, work, why you're coming to Vancouver, work etc. I have found great communication makes possible a great match.
-We are a Pacific Rim house, no shoes, but I have fuzzy socks for you!
-Please bring soft carry-on bags, there are three flights of steps up a quite
narrow staircase. Hard-shelled cases seem to always go crash-boom up the stairs. If you do bring a smaller hard case, please carry it up. Also there is a sleeping toddlers at times, so please be as quiet as possible.

THE KITCHEN
- If you would like a cup of coffee in the morning, I can set up the coffee machine with fresh ground available in the morning only, from 6:00-10:00 AM. You may bring your favourite breakfast cereals milk, snacks etc. And if I have fruit in there, you may have that too. My guests take other meals out.

INEXPENSIVE MEALS ON GRANVILLE ISLAND
Very inexpensive meals can be had at the Public Market building on Granville Island. There is a food court, and the Public Market has fresh everything! A plethora of many stands of fresh fruit and veggies, as well as specialty barbque chicken, fresh baked pies...you name it!
There is also a beautiful Public Dining Room right on the water.

FINE DINING And for dinner, there is also a great variety of dine out places, from cafes to fine dining. I always recommend Dockside Restaurant, which is right under the bridge, with a fantastic outdoor area, under the bridge, and right on the pier. And there are many other fine dining restaurants available. Search Granville Island.

-If I am not working, I sometimes have meals and socialize with my guests!

PARKING AND DIRECTIONS
There is parking available on the street. For the city centre, it is quite good, although you may have to hunt at times. It is 2 hours during the day, but they rarely ticket, and we in the co-op use it regularly. Overnight parking on the street is allowed. There is a city parking lot just east of the three-way stop on Lameys Mill Road, with reasonable rates. My guests haven't complained, but you may have to park a few blocks away.
FYI—My street name is FOUNTAIN WAY. Fountain Way is just a path/sidewalk on the parking court which is called ALDER BAY COURT— which is just off Lameys Mill Road. If you are going east on Lameys Mill, it is just before the Stop Sign at ALDER CROSSING. There, you can pull into the little parking court, see if there is a spot there, or look on the street. If you are driving in, you would benefit from doing a little studying on your GPS map. Most people find me, but it helps if you have directions before.

TRAFFIC:
-There is no freeway in Vancouver
-Traffic is usually pretty bad. We use the bus stop right outside my door to go downtown (5 minutes), Or, walk over to Granville Island and take a ferry to The West End, Downtow, and Yaletwon. Public transport is quite good, and almost always excellent. The core of Vancouver is relatively small, and it is a great walking town. My house is right on the seawall. You can walk the seawall; take a ferry part of the way, to go downtown; walk or bike to Stanley Park, and also Kitsilano, the shopping area, close to beautiful Kits Beach. (And the world-famous 135 Metre Kits Pool!) The seawall transverses the entire core of the city, including the main harbour on Burrard Inlet,

AIRBNB AND OUR COMMUNITY
We have a rental and home shortage in Vancouver. Some people are renting their entire homes and apartments for weeks and months through airbnb, and can make much more money than renting it out—In some cases, to pay for their mortgage. Not very cool. So, there has been some ambivalence created, and wrongly associated with Airbnb. I love my neighbours. If you see them and they ask, or you ask for directions, simply tell them you are a friend visiting from___.

Nous recommandons la maison de Crystal et Mimi! Crystal est accueillante, de bons conseils et rigolote (une vraie artiste dans l'âme). Sa maison est propre et bien située proche du parc stanley, du marché Granville et du centre ville. Thank you Crystal and Mimi. Our comment is in French but we know you will understand.

Wonderful location that a a short walk to Granville island. I loved using the community centre gym (only $4.95 day fee). There are buses to get you downtown fairly quickly. It's a beautiful, quiet complex right on the seawall - very convenient for a scenic jog or stroll. Crystal also provides warm hospitality and a comfortable room. Thank you, Crystal :)

Crystal place is really nice! Very well located (a few steps from Granville market, and then you take the boat connection and you are in Vancouver Downtown). Crystal is really friendly and welcoming host, we enjoyed time with her! And of course Mimi the cat :-). The room was big and clean. We could use the kitchen in the morning. I recommend !

Granville Island is my backyard, steps from the seawall that wraps all around the downtown core. Vancouver is a perfect walking and biking city, close to everything. See the aerial photo or the location below. This is perfect for a genteel couple or female individual who appreciates all that Granville Island and Vancouver offers. The Island offers a public market, theatres, performance centres, a comedy club, first class crafts, fine dining. There are City Bikes racks at the entrance to Granville Island. A brief bike trip or walk over takes you to west 4th avenue, with fabulous shops and restaurants. The bus stop is right outside my door. We have Car-to-go, Evo. Two blocks walk, jump on a Vancouver tour bus. Perfect for a weekend in Vancouver!
I am a professional artist. When not painting a commissioned Home and Garden portrait in my studio/living room, you can find me swimming at world-class Kitsilano pool; set on Kitsilano Beach—135 metres! See the website for Granville Island.
