Lluis is the perfect host, matching the style and atmosphere of the flat - friendly relaxed and organised. I liked him a lot! He is easy to like - very helpful and totally unintrusive. You have the entire flat to yourself while knowing any questions will be answered promptly via text.
There is a washer-drier at the apartment discretely hidden away in the hall cupboard, and the kitchen is well equipped for all kinds of cooking with a dishwasher included, and two taps over the sink, a mixer and one which dispenses filtered drinking water.
The beds all have extremely comfortable full-size double mattresses, and everything is very clean with bath towels nicely presented in open storage facing the double-sinked bathroom with deep drawers, and boasting a powerful large walk-in shower.
The apartment itself is a calming and comfortable space, tastefully decorated with the most spectacular views from the balcony - across to the old town in the west and to the south, out to sea. Amazing sunsets! And, at night, it's quiet enough to hear the church bells ring out the hour from the old town, less than twenty minutes' walk away along the pleasant coastal path and then promenade.
Sitges old town has many places to eat drink and to shop, all nestled into a village feel by the sea. It is both charming as well as alive with colourful local character.
The best beach is approximately fifteen minutes' stroll from the apartment and has showers and a café, and a clean and well maintained beach WC. There are lots of good restaurants behind this beach, San Sebastián. The beach nearest the apartment is very good, although San Sebastián is bigger and more traditional.
A visit to the very nearby marina "village" is a must - it's just around the corner from the apartment. Narrow lanes descend into a delightful collection of restaurants giving an upmarket feel, with the gorgeous boats and yachts as a backdrop. Small power boats can be hired from here.
Direct from Sitges train station you can take the R2 for six stops, straight into the heart of Barcelona and three minutes' walk from one of Gaudí's incredible works, 'House of Bones' (Casa Batlló) - well worth a visit.
It's about a ten minutes' walk from there to Las Ramblas.
Maybe you can tell, but we loved Lluis' apartment and Sitges, and personally I would enjoy having Lluis as a friend. He is great. It's true.
Plus, he left cold beers in the fridge for our arrival. This all helps to make the start of your stay special. Very civilised!
Thanks, Lluis :))
