This is a beautiful Dutch-colonial style house, designed by protégé of world-renowned architect Geoffrey Bawa, Channa Daswatte. In this style, outdoor and indoor spaces flow through each other, constantly connected to nature. The terrace and spacious garden are perfect for relaxing, with dining and seating areas. After the urban melting pot of the city, it's a relief to return to serenity. My friendly Sri Lankan family will host you with guidance, delicious breakfast and plenty of love!
One of the main highlights of Our Place is its long terrace and spacious garden. Guests can enjoy breakfast on the terrace, sitting at the outdoor dining table, watching the flowers and butterflies, and the occasional monkey who walks along the periphery wall. The perfect place for sundowners - out in the garden or in the cosy corner of the terrace where there is a sitting area; dusk is filled with the evensong of birds and the night sky is large and starry.
Indoors is as comfortable as outdoors, you are spoilt for choice!
We are also open to the option of renting out one or two rooms, not necessarily the whole house! Do contact us for discussion.
Accès des voyageurs
Guests will have access to the whole house.
My father is also a great chef, as is the housekeeper at Our Place - Deepika. If you wish, for a nominal fee and with a bit of advance notice, they can prepare you some amazing Sri Lankan cuisine! It must be noted that Deepika also had some lessons in Italian cooking from my-father-in law, so she can also whip up a pasta (al dente) if you wish (also for a nominal fee and with a bit of advance notice).

Throughout your stay, my father, fondly known as Uncle Tissa (possibly also with my mother), will be available for guidance, stories from the old days, the occasional drink and chat (if you wish) and tidbits about local life in Sri Lanka. He will also be happy to assist with planning if the need arises.
I'm an outgoing and friendly Sri Lankan, currently based in Kiev, Ukraine with my husband and two small kids aged 4 and 6. I love to write, read, draw, cook and get to know people!
I may or may not be in Sri Lanka when you visit; if I am not, my father will host you! If you thought I may have been interesting, you should meet my father - he makes me look dull :-). He will talk to you about the 'old days' in Sri Lanka and tell you stories of how he grew up; he himself being an avid cook, will advise you on what dishes you must try in Sri Lanka, and so on.
If I am around we can talk about the Sri Lanka of my generation, trendy (or not so trendy :-)) places to eat, get a drink, hang out, authors you should explore, and things to do based on your interests.
Being hosted by me or my family, promises to be an experience to remember!
