A little about the homeowner of this precious getaway space:
I am a baby boomer who retired from catering to become an acupuncturist. I wanted to make a difference in the quality of our healthcare system and knew from personal experience that I could do that with acupuncture and traditional medicine. I love what I do but also miss the hospitality industry. Hosting with Airbnb will allow me to be part of that world again!
My personal goal is to provide affordable, holistic healthcare in an area that was without alternative options. I moved to Nashville because of the lack of alternative healthcare here. I really enjoy educating patients about what is possible with acupuncture and herbs.
I am also renovating my main house. It is an antique log home on the Cumberland River 10 minutes from downtown Nashville. I lived in my garage apartment for almost 2 years while the renovations were going on and have moved into the main house even though it isn`t completely finished. Someday there will be three bedrooms and a bunk room upstairs to share with guests and a gymnasium with a yoga swing. I can`t wait!
I have been blessed to travel to many places and enjoy seeing and smelling all the newness. I love to taste new foods. I also love to go to the equivalent of a hardware store in whatever country I visit. It`s fun to see how people get things done. Like in France with their street-side chicken rotisseries where the fat falls on potatoes at the bottom. Brilliant! I got to live in Italy for two years in the early `90s. I really cherish that opportunity because it was such an amazing immersion in all things Italian. I was in a rural village in the Apennine Mountain range. There I spent time doing things like helping my landlady fluff the raw wool from her mattress, as this task needed doing every other year, or wandering through the valley behind the house eating the best wild blackberries ever. I could go to Rome quickly by train and spend the day and be home in time to cook dinner. So many good memories. South Africa was one of the most difficult places to enjoy that I have been. The racial disparity was painful to see, but still, overall it was also an amazing trip. China was the one place where I felt helpless. I could not read anything and had to have help to get everywhere and to buy anything. That was the trip that I vowed to never eat again after I left because the food there was so good that it just wouldn`t be worth it. These days I am all about the beauty of America. Next big trip, I want to go canyoneering in the west. Next little trip, I want to go the Asheville.
