My place is 12km from the center of Maun, on the Gomote river. You’ll love my place because it is on a 15 hector plot in the bush. Access to the cottage is by crossing the river in a Mokoro (dug out canoe). We have friendly pets, including dogs, cats, horses, chickens and a goat. We often have visits from elephants and other wild life. Once with us you won't want to leave. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets).

Una experiencia única y muy auténtica. Totalmente recomendable. Ponche y Shaneka son encantadoras y merece la pena compartir tiempo con ellas y su "familia" animal. La falta de Wifi y la poca luz se compensa con creces con el encanto del lugar y los momentos vividos junto a la hoguera.

What a lovely "off the grid" experience. The electricity is generated by solar panels and batteries .There is running cold water but not hot. For a daily shower water is heated in a huge three-legged pot and then carried to the bucket above the shower in the bathroom in the cottage. The cottage has a bedroom with a VERY comfortable double bed and a little sitting room. All cooking is done on the gas stove outside or on the fire, with paraffin lamps providing light and a lovely atmosphere. A truly back to nature 7 days! No Wi-Fi or TV!! On our second day we saw elephants behind our cottage in the back yard!! A special sighting in their natural habitat. We also saw a hippo in the river when we crossed over in the mokoro...also a quaint experience being transported daily in a mokoro to get to a car! Ponche and her daughter, Shanika, were excellent hosts who went out of their way to ensure we had the best stay possible. Ponche assisted in organising trips for us and even accompanied us on some of them. Their pet goat, rooster, baby pig, 3 dogs, 3 cats, hens and chickens added a delightful touch! We hope to be back!

The Okavango Delta is an amazing place but staying with Ponche made our experience so much better. She has the most beautiful, secluded home on an island accessible by makoro canoe. We didn't even need to hire a motor boat, as hippos were visible from the front yard! Stop by a super market and pick up ingredients to cook in Ponche's lovely outdoor kitchen and spend the night being serenaded by the sounds of the delta. This place is a must. We can't wait to come back!

Absolutely amazing. The place is a paradise in a secluded and very relaxing area. Ponche and her daughter are the sweetest hosts who will ensure your comfort. They are true bush girls and are extremely knowledgeable, make sure you learn as much as you can from them. Their place offers a true "african " experience. They have no wifi which allows you to really reconnect to the basics. (Although the uni up the road has access if needed). The power is by solar panels and the cross in the Mokoro to reach their home is fantastic. I wish I could have stayed for months longer. Thank you for everything, you guys, the home and the gorgeous pets were all perfect. (Tip: bring with you some groceries so you can cook yummy meals in the outdoor kitchen without having to always run to town, it's great to stay and just relax)

If in the area, the Gomoti River Cottage is a must! Ponche and her family were very accommodating and an absolute pleasure to be around. Her one of a kind home and cottage situated a small canoe trip away offer a unique and memorable experience. Will be back!

I had a great stay with Ponche and Soley. Staying here you get a very African experience, crossing the river in a canoe to get to the house. The cottage is very comfy and has everything you could need. I saw plenty of animals including hippos and a fish eagle, but sadly no elephants although the evidence of their presence is clear all around! The whole experience was very enjoyable and relaxing!
