Our house is a tranquil getaway just 30-40 minutes from Jogja city center or the the airport, and 30 minutes from Parangtritis beach.
The house has lovely wrap-around verandahs and roof decks shaded by trees and vines, with lounge chairs for relaxing and fresh fruit to pick in the large garden. There are two air-conditioned bedrooms each with a queen-sized bed, and two extra single mattresses to accommodate additional guests.
We designed the house with peace, beauty and environmental sustainability in mind. Doors, window frames and furniture are all made of local teak and mahogany wood, floors are marble, sink basins are natural stone, and the solar hot water heater is our own design and construction. As the solar water heater works best in sunny weather and water was not always warm if it was cloudy, we have recently installed a back-up gas water heater as well. Gray wastewater from the house is channeled to the garden and used to water the plants. The house has lovely wrap-around verandahs and roof decks shaded by a variety of trees and vines, with wide teak benches and lounge chairs perfect for relaxing and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. Many edible treats can be found in the garden including papayas, passion fruit, chilies, and lemongrass, among others. Please help yourself to whatever is in season.
As the house is at the top of a hill, the views from our roof deck are spectacular, with volcanoes Mt. Merapi and Mt. Merbabu visible on clear days, and sunsets are often memorable. At night you can enjoy the view of twinkling city lights in the distance as well as fantastic moon and star-gazing.
The house has two air-conditioned bedrooms each with a queen-sized bed, and two more single mattresses are available to accommodate additional guests. There are three bathrooms, each with a warm shower, stone basin sink, and western-style toilet. The kitchen has a rustic natural stone wall and is equipped with a modern stove and refrigerator. Complete cooking equipment and dishes are provided. Due to the hilltop village location, there are rare but occasional short electricity outages which are beyond our control. We do have candles and flashlights in the house just in case.
We're sure you will enjoy our beautiful house and garden!
Accès des voyageurs
Guests renting the entire home have access to all rooms with the exception of one small third bedroom where we store our personal belongings and which we keep locked. Of course guests always have access to the roof decks and garden as well.
Échanges avec les voyageurs
If guests have rented the entire home that means we are not in town and will not be able to meet them, however our caretaker and neighbors in the village can provide local tips and assistance if needed.
Due to the hot, humid climate and natural garden environment, guests should please be understanding about creatures such as cecaks and tokek geckos that sometimes come around, and a certain amount of dust and falling leaves that arrive anew each day. Although we will make sure that the house is thoroughly cleaned before your arrival, it does take a bit of effort if you want to keep it clean on a daily basis. For guests who stay long-term we will try to arrange a weekly cleaning by our caretaker.
Smoking only on the outdoor porches or decks please.
