The Hidden jungle Village is simply wonderful. Do yourself a favour and have a night here. The location is probably the main strength as it is in actual jungle. I had been here before, so knew what to expect, but is still a delight to be led into the cool of the trees and to stumble across the lodge with its mud walls and palm thatch roof . And there are several other even more secluded areas away from the building - like seating areas, the hammocks here and there, and the barbeque area on the walk down to the tank.
Rooms are simple , fairly bare and very clean , indeed there is a feeling throughout the lodge that you would be happy sitting, lying, eating anywhere which you do not always feel in built-up areas.
The food is great. Depending on what Sampath has in stock they will cook you anything you want and you can even watch preparation. I always go for the curries - just ask him what he recommends!
Staff are very friendly too - probably because it is so small - but it feels like you are with family, and they really will look after you and cater to your needs.
Overall - highly recommended. This is Sri Lanka the natural way. I only hope I can get back for another stay before it becomes permanently booked up.
