After a long day on the bike Margaret made us feel like we were at home! Anyone cycling the Erie Canal would love this BnB. Great stories, great breakfast, great person! Thank you Margaret!

My husband and I arrived to the house on Saturday morning, after driving through the night. Margaret was very accommodating in letting us check in early. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a very excited dog. That was unexpected, but he was a friendly dog. We were given a very spacious bedroom on the second floor. She does not book more than one party at a time, so we actually had the entire upstairs to ourselves. Margaret showed us her lovely quilts, which she makes herself. She also makes hook rugs by the way. The house itself is exactly what you would expect from a farmhouse. A porch that spans the front of the house, with casual seating adorning the various sides. Antique furnishings with proper China displayed throughout. There was a stained glass window when you got up the stairs, and plenty of wallpaper from room to room. The bathroom was more recently put in, which was a plus. The tub was new and clean, although quite small. Granted, I am six months pregnant, and I still fit with the door closed. There were plenty of towels and blankets if needed. Given that it was still hot out, we were comfortable with the air conditioning on and a fan. The land itself spans very far. We got exactly what we wanted, which was being surrounded by nature, and some peace and quiet. We traveled for all of Saturday, from the top of Seneca Lake to the bottom, and back. We returned to the house around 10pm, exhausted. We had a good nights rest. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was a bit far, for someone who has to go multiple times through the night. The hallway is rather dark, too. But I don't think most people would need to walk back and forth as much as I did. We woke up to a lovely breakfast of eggs, strawberries, juice and coffee. And best of all, it was all served on lovely China. We had great conversation with Margaret on her past in the city. I thoroughly enjoyed her company, and insight on farm life. Check out was at 10am on Sunday, but by the time we had breakfast and conversed, we must've left an hour later. We were happy with the flexibility. Seems like a good stop on the way to Canada, so we hope to stay here again soon.

This is a very nice farmhouse from the 1850s in rural Palmyra, New York. I stayed here travelling across the country on I-90. It's just a few miles from the freeway exit, and easy to find. It's just over 20 minutes from Canadaigua. I enjoy eating at the New York Wine and Culinary Institute there, and I often also pick up a case of Finger Lakes wines. You can stay in a historic building in Palmyra for half the price of premium accommodations in Canadaigua proper, at least at the height of the summer season. A great value and convenient. Margaret is a gracious host, and she's done a nice job of fixing up her farm house. Her breakfast is excellent.

Rustic country farmhouse with a gracious host. I showed up after a long day riding the canal, and Margaret was kind enough to wash my clothes and let me hose down my bike. The rooms are large and comfy. I enjoyed the conversation and tasty breakfast. Highly recommended.

The historic home was everything we hoped for and more. She has beautifully decorated her 1855 home with antiques, and you feel as though you've gone back in time - except for the indoor plumbing and electric! Loved it!

The setting for this home is gorgeous and is out in the country away from the hustle and bustle from the city which is exactly what we wanted. The 6 bedrooms were very adequate for our party and we loved being so close to each other for this extended family getaway. The breakfasts were very tasty and Margaret was very accepting of our requests as to what time we ate. My only reason for giving this home a 4 instead of a 5 is that there is only 1 bathroom inside the house that we had access to. The other bathroom was actually a converted outhouse separate from the house. Some of us used it a couple of times during the day but at night it was too far to go. It also didn't have a shower so we had to schedule times for the 7 of us to shower in the 1 inside bathroom every morning. We were able to work around this though, and really enjoyed staying there.
