well-located designer space close to Queen West, the Drake Hotel and the Gladstone. This bright converted warehouse features 14-foot ceilings, a luxurious modern bathroom, and a private garden. You'll be one block from two convenient transit routes, in the heart of a neighbourhood known for its terrific restaurants and quirky boutiques.

Le logement

This 1500 square foot artist's loft is a unique, bright and relaxing space. It's the back half of a converted warehouse (your host is in the front half), lovingly renovated to provide modern comfort (luxury bathroom, floor-to-ceiling windows, heated concrete flooring), while retaining its original, distinctive character (high loft ceilings, skylights, exposed beams, brick walls).

This isn't a generic "loft" condo: it's an industrial space that I have transformed into my dream home. It's an ideal place for creative professionals, couples or visitors here for events like TIFF and Nuit Blanche.

The very large living area features floor-to-ceiling windows that open into a private garden, providing lots of light and privacy. You can settle into the oversized sofa and armchair, or use the large open space by the window for yoga and exercise. The polished concrete floors have embedded radiant heating, so even on a cool day you can stretch out on your yoga mat and enjoy the sun pouring in from the west-facing windows.

The sleeping area is one step up: a wall separates the bedroom from the dining area/kitchen, but it's open to living room. Two north-facing windows and a queen-sized bed make the bedroom feel bright and spacious, and you can pull the curtain to separate it from the living room for additional privacy.

The luxurious bathroom was inspired by my favourite hotels: it's a two-room suite, with white Italian marble throughout. One half has a giant soaker tub (with a bright window above), a single sink and a large marble counter for with plenty of space all your toiletries. The other holds an oversize, glass-enclosed shower with rainwater showerhead, as well as a toilet and small sink. A sliding door allows you to separate the two halves for privacy.

You'll have access to the building's wifi network, and you'll have your own large-screen TV (with Netflix and an Apple TV, but no cable).

The European style kitchen has a large work area, glass mini-fridge, sink, electric cooktop and microwave.

You will have full use of the self-contained apartment in the back half of the building, which is separated from the front apartment by a locked door. The unit is accessed by way of the side lane way. You will enter through and have exclusive use of the private garden during your stay.

When I have guests, I stay in the apartment in the front half of the building, so I am normally available to greet you on arrival and answer any questions you have about the space, the neighbourhood or the city.

Autres remarques

This unit is my personal living space, so it will have some of my clothing and other items. I clear out space for guests to put their own things, but it is very much a home -- not an empty hotel room.

Also note that there is a cat who lives in this building, and while he won't be in the apartment while you are staying there, he is sometimes in the apartment at other times.

No parties: if you're planning to entertain more than 4 guests, please check with me first.

Very comfortable loft in every way. Totally felt like being at home. Tamara and Sean were perfect hosts. Immediately responsive and never intrusive. I have been going to Toronto for business. The loft is further from the downtown core than I usually stay. If I have very intense meetings downtown, I might stay closer. For all other trips to Toronto, I certainly intend to return unless you (the reader of this review) are there instead.

First off the home is incredible. You are so comfortable the second you walk in and the back garden is a little oasis in the city. The bathroom is wonderful with all the amenities you need and the bed is comfortable. It was hard to get out an explore Toronto with such a beautiful home base. Tamara and Sean also left a gift card for coffee which was a nice touch. They were also very easy to communicate with as well. Location is very central to all the restaurants and areas we wanted to explore and the TTC is easy to use. Look forward to staying here again in the future!

I love seeing examples of re-purposing industrial space and Tamara has done a wonderfully creative job in renovating and re-inhabiting this industrial structure for city living. I loved the quiet of the building inside and working in the backyard garden. Although it is a lively neighbourhood, I always felt safe and the hosts were always accessible. A huge bonus was discovering the Lhasa Kitchen just around the corner on Queen – fresh and delicious homemade Bhutan and Tibetan food for very reasonable prices. Along with the delicious coffee place close by that the hosts treated me to! A highly recommended adventure.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time staying at Tamara's place. It was bright, very open and the bathroom was phenomenal. Tamara was awesome with responding and being available if we had any questions or concerns. It was near everything and anything we could needed and super close to public transit, the highway etc. Would totally stay again!

Tamara was an exemplary hostess...very responsive and made sure to have everything set up and taken care of before we got there. The space is beautiful and has been carefully curated to be welcoming and stylish and unique. If you don't mind a slightly less gentrified neighborhood as a trade off of a beautiful place this is your spot!
