The Lakelet is a beautiful and tranquil property just a few minutes outside of the main strip in Mirissa. Our hosts Kumara and Duminda went above and beyond and really made the stay memorable. They provided us with a cell phone so that we could always contact them for rides or if we had any questions. One night they made us a nice tea and cake at sunset so that we could watch the bats as they set out to hunt. Breakfast was also really nice and quite picturesque! And just in general, they are both super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed chatting with them while we were there. The room is very big and spacious and has nice decorative touches. Also has two really nice outside areas to sit and relax. And the nature surrounding the property is full of chirping birds and the beauty of the jungle. We had such a lovely stay and I highly recommend it. If I could stay longer I would! Thank you Duminda and Kumara for being excellent hosts.

We were at the Lakelet for 3 days this October. The highlight of our stay was the amazing hospitality of Kumara and Duminda - and the 4 stars are for that! Here are some things to consider when you book The Lakelet: Pros: - Hospitality: Kumara and Duminda are superfriendly hosts; they were responsive and caring - when we ended up accidentally breaking their tea-set due to a fall, they didn't once ask about the set and were only concerned about whether we're alright, even refused to take compensation for the damages; they also fixed us up with a scooter rental for 1,000 LKR a day - Tasteful interiors/decor: White, elegant and setup with a designer's eye - Peaceful location with an amazing view of the lake (especially if you've booked the top floor) and chirping of birds - Spacious room and bathroom (1.5x your usual commercial hotel room) - Access to two balcony/dining areas outside the room (one facing lake and other facing internal ground floor lawn) - great places to view the sunset/sunrise - Wonderful breakfast! Kumara fixed us up with a different treat every morning (omelette, egg hopper, pancakes, fruits, tea) Cons: - Upkeep: Unfortunately the days we were there the regular caretaker was away due to a family emergency; our bathroom looked un-serviced when we checked in (with brown spots on floor and shampoo/soap missing) and the room was not cleaned at all during the stay - Bugs: Given lake, there are a lot of bugs especially at night (though it helps that bed has a mosquito net); we ended up fighting off 3-4 cockroaches too :( - No A/C: It got fairly hot in the room even during the night when it's cooler outside; the one fan in the room is high up in the ceiling and the air doesn't reach the bed; we chose not to open the doors at night to prevent the room filling up with bugs and for privacy - this made things super stuffy - Access: While you can get to the main Mirissa beach and restaurants strip in 10 mins, you have to get through a muddy approach road, which is narrow at points and has no lights; given it was raining for a few hours every day, there were big muddy puddles and slush; my husband and I had rented a scooter which ended up getting stuck in the mud at night, waddling through the mud at night was not pleasant; not for unskilled riders All in all - our experience may have been better if the season was different and the upkeep was taken care of. Thanks for the hospitality Kumara and Duminda!

We enjoyed our five nights stay at both rooms in The Lakelet. Having stayed at both rooms we cant really say either one is better. They are both clean, modern and spacious. Before getting there we had our doubts about the absence of airconditioning and were a bit worried about the amount of musquito's and other insects. However it turned out that the insect level was very low which allowed us the open the doors at let and let the place cool down. In the end we didnt miss the airconditioning and sitting outside to enjoy the lovely views over the lake was great. Duminda and Kumara are great hosts as many people already wrote. They will help you in every possible way they can and are always stand-by to bring you to the lakelet or the beach. The included breakfast was great as well: typical sri lankan or western as you wish. We would definately recommend to stay here for so many reasons: - beautiful house - great hosts - quiet surroundings - not in a touristic area

Absolutely fantastic!! Being my first Airbnb experience I was slightly apprehensive of what it was going to be like. We were met by a gentleman called Kumara who couldn't have been more helpful & friendly throughout our stay. Although the property is located 1km from the beach, please do not let this put you off. Kumara is on hand throughout the day to pick you up and take you where ever need be. He even provided us with a local phone that we could use to call him. He would be ready to collect within 5 minutes. I have never had a personal chauffeur but this was like having one. The room was spacious and the balcony views over the lake were fantastic. I struggled the first night with the heat as the room didn't have aircon, but that's me being overly fussy. There is a large fan. Breakfast would be served each morning at a time suited and was eaten overlooking the lake. The overall stay of accommodation was very good, but made even better by Kumara's hospitality. If I am fortunate to return to the area, I would definitely book again.

The Lakelet is a special place in a special location. The room is incredibly spacious, simple, clean & comfortable with balconies on both sides. Its a little hard to find as its about 1.5km from Mirissa down some winding roads but worth it when you get there. Highly recommend taking the small boat out for bat watching and sunset on the lake. Duminda & Kumara are excellent hosts.

Immersa nella vegetazione tropicale, questa villa dal design che richiama le linee nordiche rappresenta un'oasi di pace e tranquillità sulle sponde di un magico lago. Colazione super e host gentilissimo
