Come find rest, serenity and inspiration in a uniquely beautiful temple setting conducive to meditation and spiritual renewal. Taking seven years to construct, "La Casa de David" (The house of David) is truly a work of art with craftsmanship and detail exhibited throughout. Made from earth, straw, stone, and wood, the architecture is a reflection of nature and its curvy-linear, hobbit like floor plan was designed to bring honor and attention to the Feminine aspect/principal of the Divine.

Le logement

La Casa de David offers three rooms available to rent: The Sunset Room (1 Queen Bed), The Round Room (1 double/full bed) and The Lakota Room (1 double/full bed & 1 twin/single bed). All rooms offered share one bathroom and have access to another half bath. In addition, all three rooms are located on a far wing of the house serviced by its own private back entrance. Prominent from the outside, one can't help but notice the living, green roof system consisting of sedium / succulent dessert species of plants. Once inside, guests are confronted with large pine logs serving as rafters and bamboo ceilings laid in a herringbone pattern. Mosaic tiled floors add visually while the smell of incense and sound of water viscerally facilitate a rich experience one can only experience directly to fully appreciate.

Every room has been meticulously designed and decorated for the discriminating guest. High quality matrices, sheets and pillows have been carefully chosen to provide a rich experience to each guest.

Located in the rolling hills of south central Pennsylvania, this home is close to Sam Lewis State Park (expanded vistas, hiking trails, great kite flying & quaint picnic areas), Cool Creek Golf Course, and the Susquehanna River (boating / fishing). La Casa de David is ideal for the spiritual seeker and nature lover and is also good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with kids).

If you find yourself in the vicinity of this home you are in for a treat! The thoughtful construction of the whole home is just amazing! It's a cob house with so much character and elegance. David is a wonderful and kind host who made our experience memorable. The beds were very comfortable and the house and the grounds a great place to relax.

If you're lucky enough you be looking at this location, you're really really really in for a treat. To call it a hobbit hole doesn't do it justice, it's more like what I imagine heaven on earth to be like. Calming. Scenic. Elegant. And something that's hard to describe in a photo - peace. When we turned off the lights, there was a kinda restful peace that just suffused the place. If you want peace, the sleep of a thousand nights, and an interesting host with an interesting story book this today. You'll not regret it.

If you are a seasoned AirBnB guest, and you want a once-in-a-lifetime beautiful spiritual experience in an architecturally fabulous place... stay at David's. This is not a standard situation - it is sooo much more! Conversely it isn't going to offer you the consistency of a Motel 6 so don't come here expecting everything to be pre-packaged in middle-American blandness and comfort. Come here to really get away and experience a new place and some spiritual release. Most importantly, David is a gracious host. Please be considerate of him as he is sharing a beautiful home with you.

Relaxing, contemplative, comfortable and thought provoking space. Such a unique find that provides access in minutes to Lancaster, Columbia, Wrightsville and other area towns. Beautiful views and lots of natural light with comfortable, generous rooms. Plenty of space for reading, reflection and relaxing. Outside is a refreshing blend of interesting plantings, water features and lawn space. David was a wonderful host who was communicative and responsive, yet provided plenty of space. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

We loved David's house. The construction and design are unique and fascinating. David was kind enough to give us the grand tour and we were grateful for that. Everything was clean, the place is quiet even with other guests in the next room, and the surrounding area is full of hiking, history and lovely vistas.

I spent two wonderful months at David''s. I passed over the listing at first because the system links it to Harrisburg which was too far from Philadelphia for me but actually Wrightsville is a good thirty minutes closer and easy access to high speed highway routes made it feel not so far out. The location is just an hour and ten minutes from King of Prussia with its excellent shopping and an IMAX and even closer to Baltimore. I was initially drawn to the house because it is straw bale construction. There is a saying that once you stay in a straw bale house it is hard to go back to a conventional house. Aside from the decor which was warm and beautiful in its own right, straw bale houses just have a special feel to them because they breathe, regulate moisture properly, stay warm in winter and cooler in the heat of summer. David installed the Rolls Royce of a heating system which is radiant floor heat and the house was always warm and cozy even on freezing nights. The house was also very quiet. Partly because of the thick straw Bale wall insulation but also because no noisy forced air system running. All the appliances in the house including the hot water heater were high end. A fantastic kitchen if you like to cook with two sinks, two ovens, and a great gas stove top. Nice quality furniture in the bedrooms and artistic touches such as slate shelves and a cedar lined closet!!! Big tub In the bathroom I think with jets ( I'm not a bath person so I'm not exactly sure but it was a huge tub). Another plus the house is on well water which is so nice to not have to not deal with chlorine/ammonia. The house is on a few acres and the way David designed it and landscaped it felt very private. The lot is set on a hillside with a great view of the river. For those who like to walk Samuel Lewis park is 1/4 mike away by road with nice trails. David is.a fabulous host, kind, compassionate, great communicator and interesting conversationalist. If anyone has kids the room where I stayed is part of a wing and would make a great stay for a family and Davids son is great company. Also the downstairs wing has its own big screen TV with lots of features. The house is also just 30 minutes from Hershey Park and Lancaster. Aside from families the is also perfectly set up for small groups and workshops
