Le logement
The cottage is set in (we think) the most beautiful valley in the world! From the cottage you have views of Coronet Peak, Remarkable Range, Waitiri Station and Mt Edward, not to mention a fully working vineyard. The cottage is a studio guesthouse and can sleep four adults. The bedding configuration is one master queen bed on the ground floor and one queen loft bed, accessible by a ladder. Please note that the loft bed has limited headroom due to it being in a loft. Due to the ladder-only access to the loft, we do not allow guests under the age of 12, due to the perilousness nature of climbing the ladder. We also recommend those that are sleeping in the loft don't have too many pinots before bed! But it is a cute space that people really enjoy.
We give our guests the space to do their own thing and we also work full-time so won't be stepping on your toes at all.
The cottage is equipped with a full kitchen which includes an oven, a cooktop with two burners, microwave, kettle and toaster. We provide breakfast for guests which includes tea, coffee, bread, spreads, milk, cereal and eggs.
There is a lounge with two sofas to relax in and a TV with a DVD player and a video player (if you want to get all retro). The TV is also equipt with pay TV (Sky).
There is a wardrobe and shelves in which to store your clothes and a bathroom with walk-in shower, sink and toilet.
The main house where me (Dave), my partner (Lisa) and my mum (Briony) live with our dog, Lenny, is about 50 metres up the hill from the cottage but we are often out at work so give you lots of space. You also have your own private patio out the front of your cottage on which to relax and enjoy the view.
Our dog - Lenny - is very loveable but quite boistrous. He will bark when you arrive and try to smother you with love and convince you to take him for a walk! Please do not fall for this as he is not very good at coming back.
We are on a working vineyard so you may hear tractor noises, dogs barking, and frost fighting windmills.
Please note that there is no working fireplace. A split system heater/aircon is provided.

Gibbston, Otago, Nouvelle-Zélande

You have come to the right place to sample some of the best wines in the world! Central Otago is known for the amazing pinot noir that it produces. In Gibbston Valley it is all picked by hand and a lot of the producers are organic or incorporate biodynamic growing principles. Within 5-10km of your cottage are the following wineries:
Peregrine
Gibbston Valley (who also have a restaurant and cheesery)
Waitiri Creek
Hawkshead (they sell out of Kinross just below our house or can organise a private tasting on request)
Mt Rosa
Brennan's Estate
There are many wine tour companies that operate in the valley and throughout the Central Otago area, including Bannockburn and into Queenstown. Look through our brochures or peruse the web to find one that suits your needs.
It is illegal to drink and drive in New Zealand so please drink responsibly.
The historic gold town of Arrowtown is approximately a 10 minute drive away. Turn left out of the bottom of the driveway and follow the main highway for 10km, past the bungee bridge and past the Crown Range turn off. You will see a sign for Arrowtown so turn right and that road will take you to the main shopping street.
Queenstown is approximately a 25-30 minute drive away. Turn left out of the bottom of the driveway and follow the main highway and that will take you straight into Queenstown.
Wanaka is about an hour away. Turn left out of the bottom of the driveway and follow the main highway for about 9.5km. Take the turn off on the right onto the Crown Range and follow that all the way into Wanaka township.
We are surrounded by fabulous places to eat, drink and be merry. If you feel like a proper coffee when you get up in the morning, you can take a short 10 minute stroll down the hill to Kinross. Head down the driveway to the bottom vineyard and turn right along the private track just before the driveway flattens out, follow your nose and you will get to Kinross Café where they serve a range of food and coffee. They also do wine and beer tastings later in the day.
Close by is also Waitiri Creek that do delicious woodfire pizzas, the Gibbston Tavern (pub food) and the Gibbston Back Road cellar doors that have provide yummy platters and picnic lunches.
Arrowtown also has many food options, from takeaways to fine dining so you will find something to satisfy any craving. We personally love Dudley's Cottage for coffee, Provisions for brunch, La Rumbla for tapas, and The Fork and Tap for a good pub meal. If you can find the Blue Door Pub, you are in for an afterdinner treat!
