We had a great time. It has the best view of any of the other places we looked at.

Great deck with a marvelous view. Wonderful fire-pit and Kathy provides the fire wood. (What a treat not to have to go buy wood.) The cabin was just what we needed for our long weekend to Arkansas. Beds are remarkably comfortable and even with 3 of us showering, we never ran out of hot water.

We had a wonderful time here, Kathy is friendly and full of suggestions for things to do, the cabin was clean and comfortable and we loved the firepit and view! I can't wait to go back.

Kathy’s cabin has one of the most amazing views in the Ozarks. The sun rises over the valley below, and drew my wife to the back porch hammock early each morning. At night, the stars shine unencumbered by terrestrial light pollution and are awe-inspiring. It was our six-year-old daughter who first noticed them, saying, “Look, Daddy! You can draw lines between the stars to make patterns…” How awesome is that? The fire pit in the back yard is large enough for all but the most pyromaniacal of guests. Large enough, in fact, that a garden hose and fire extinguisher would be welcome additions to the cabin’s many amenities. (As would chairs around the pit or up on the porch in the interest of the good conversations to be had.) And there are many amenities – Responsive, hot water; plenty of towels; two king-sized beds with perfect mattresses (hot too hard, not too soft); perfectly adequate kitchen; easy access using a security code or a key; and a good location if one wants to make Jasper a base of operations. But there is one downside to the place, and though it may more down for some than for others, here it is – The front door of the cabin is exactly 40 feet from Route 7, a main north-south Ozarks thoroughfare. Open the front door and there’s the porch, then a parking place for one car and then the highway. Consequently, we found that just when we would get comfortable listening to the crickets chirp and the skeeters buzz in the evenings, or just when a few more winks under the covers would have made a vacation morning something even more savory… zzzZZZOOOMMMmmm… the reverie would be pierced by the roar of an eighteen-wheeler, a good old boy’s big Ford Silverado or a got-more-money-than-they-got-sense aging yuppie’s Harley beating the daylights out of the nearby asphalt. When I have this level of noise in a hotel, even in a major city, I ask for a different room. Finally (and I debated whether or not to include this but decided I should), once I booked the reservation each message from Kathy concluded with “Jesus Loves You and So Do I.” The problem I have with this isn’t so much that Kathy included it, it’s the fact that she included it only after I confirmed our reservation, meaning that I was a captive audience to her religiosity – I had to communicate with her and therefore I had to read this little sermon at the end of every… single… communication – a total of eight times in about three days. Personally, I’m glad that Jesus loves me, but I don’t want a stranger to beat me over the head with it as we’re trying to conduct business. In conclusion – Kathy goes out of her way to make her cabin welcoming and comfortable, the views are great and the location’s good if you want to be close to Jasper. Just don’t expect something off...
