I had a terrific time at Jessica and Patrick's place. I liked the apartment so much that I extended my stay. The check-in was very smooth and it was easy to community with Jessica and Patrick. The on-site property manager, Jackey, was very nice, helpful, and accommodating. The building seems to be completely remodeled with a lot of thought put into the concept. The unit I stated in had a comfortable bed, hot shower, laptop work station, and a small refrigerator and microwave that I never used. The area is great, as it is right across from the Basilica Church. There are restaurants and stores all over the place and there is even a little gym - with all the basic weights - about half a block away and it only costs $1.50 for a day pass. I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend this place to anyone visiting Quito.

The best part of this place, which is better described as a private room not an entire house, is the cleanliness and quality furnishings. Everything was very well presented, I even had fresh roses in my room on arrival. The location is convenient if you are a tourist, but beware the streets around the area were closed several nights making it difficult to access when coming home from dinner - though this may be because of the major international conference happening during my stay so many not be a problem at other times. Despite asking guests to pay a cleaning fee, on booking I was sent a document with house rules including that I was expected to take all my garbage out to communal bins before leaving. I was quite surprised to be asked to do this. The unit is located from an inner courtyard. There are large, frosted windows which let in lots of daylight while maintaining privacy. However, there are no curtains and as the windows are off the inner courtyard, light from other units and the hall easily enters the room. I had trouble falling asleep the first couple of nights as I am used to falling asleep in complete darkness, which I couldnt achieve. I was impressed with the Wifi speed - I had worried the connection would be poor given the description, but the connection was great and I was easily able to (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), etc. The property is managed by an Ecuadorian woman Jackie who seemed very friendly but spoke no English - it was difficult to communicate with her directly, and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Translate didnt seem to help. She rang the host twice during my stay when needed and through that exchange, a taxi was organised to take me back to the airport which was very helpful. Most airbnb places I have stayed in have provided some information about the local area (good place to eat, how to get around) but there was no info packet and as previously mentioned I could not communicate with the property manager. Given the horror stories I heard from colleagues staying in dirty hotels during the conference, I am pleased I stayed here - but it is best suited for someone who will be out all day (and so doesnt need much space) and who speaks some Spanish.
